In 1994, a TV series "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" once again brought the heroic era of the late Eastern Han Dynasty to the people. "The great river goes east, and the waves exhaust the heroes." In the chaotic world, the Three Kingdoms of Wei Shu and Wu finally rose up. With the efforts of such outstanding figures as Zhuge Liang, Guan Yu, and Zhao Yun, that period of history has given us too many touching stories that are popular in the heart.

However, no matter how many works we look up related to the Three Kingdoms period, we will find that the story after the unification of the world is rarely mentioned. Whether it is drama or literature, costume film and television dramas rarely shoot the story after Sima Yan. Why is this history of unification, known as the Western Jin Dynasty, not liked by people? Experts say it's a nightmare.
In the late Three Kingdoms period, the Shu state took the lead in decline, while the Cao Wei camp had become bigger and stronger, and Sun Wu could only barely survive in the Jiangnan area. But as the Cao royal family weakened, the ambitions of the Sima family were also exposed little by little. In 249, while the 7-year-old young emperor Cao Fang was out to worship his ancestors, Sima Yi, who was an assistant, directly launched the "Gaopingling Rebellion" and seized power in one fell swoop.
After this, Cao Wei's power had basically been overridden. In 257, Sima Zhao carried out another large-scale liquidation, and there was no longer any chance of resistance. After the destruction of the Shu state in 263, Sima Yan directly established the Western Jin Dynasty in 266, and the emperor changed the throne. In 279, Wu Guo was also unable to resist the iron hooves of the Jin army, and eventually the world fell into the hands of Sima Shi.
It is also at this point that the story of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms has been told, and the Jin Dynasty, which has been ignored by countless people, has opened the curtain. In fact, in the early days of Sima Yan's reign, the world was still quite peaceful. According to the Book of Jin, the 280-year "rule of Taikang" once restored all aspects. However, he was different from Li Shimin, who created the "Rule of Zhenguan", in that Emperor Wu of Jin failed to carry out such a virtuous style to the end.
It wasn't long before Sima Yan began to be extravagant because of his unsuccessful attempts to govern. This decay, which began within the royal family, was simply unstoppable, and soon the entire court was in a state of absurdity. In addition, at this time, he also implemented the system of dividing the kings with the same surname, the rulers ganged up, and the rulers were arrogant and lascivious, and in the end, the dynasty would only be decayed little by little in the pain of the people.
Sure enough, in 290, the Rebellion of the Eight Kings broke out. A struggle with the princes of the emperor for imperial power not only destroyed the rare and stable national conditions, but also destroyed the lives of the world. To put it bluntly, this turmoil directly destroyed the foundation of the Western Jin Dynasty, and there was simply not enough power to support it under the huge appearance.
This situation gave those northern ethnic groups that had been entrenched since the Han Dynasty an opportunity to see it. Due to the years of integration, these foreign tribes have long been deeply rooted in the interior to live, so they are particularly aware of the weakness of the Western Jin Dynasty. In this way, a wave of unrest arose again, and in 304, the "Five Hu Rebellion", the Xiongnu, qiang, Xianbei and other countries all came with their armies to fight, and the Western Jin Dynasty was divided in this war, known in history as the "Five Hu Sixteen Kingdoms".
Against such a background, there is nothing more miserable than the Sima family, which ended in tragedy, than those innocent people. Wherever the Hu people went, they were bound to let the blood stain the earth red. Wars are accompanied by great sacrifices, coupled with the hatred accumulated over generations, and innocent civilians are their greatest tool for venting their anger.
At the end of the battle, the Han chinese were left with less than 4 million, and this devastating encounter was, as experts say, a nightmare. In other words, the Central Plains after the Sima family is a process of direct decline. How can such a tragedy be put up with bringing it to the screen again?
