At that time, the situation was chaotic, many tomb guards guarded themselves, sold rare treasures in the mausoleum, and many people used violent means to forcibly enter the mausoleum, the most well-known of which was Sun Dianying, who had excavated the Tomb of the Qianlong Emperor and the Dingdong Mausoleum of Empress Dowager Cixi as a bandit, and took away a lot of gold and silver jewelry.

3. Interpretation of faith
Today, the Qing Dynasty has been destroyed for more than 100 years, and the tomb keepers have also changed one batch after another. Although most of them chose to leave, some people still insisted on it and still retained the custom of sacrifice. A large part of those who remained were descendants of the Eight Banners and Qing dynasty officials, who remembered the duty of the tomb keepers and guarded the mausoleum with the hopes of their ancestors.
In fact, they are basically unpaid, the local cultural relics department will sometimes issue a certain living subsidy, the main income is still from their own, such as the development of tourism, do farm.
