After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the "King of Yunnan," who had been in the Yunnan region for more than ten years, immediately reorganized the Dian Army in the Yunnan region, reorganized the 40,000 Dian Army into the 60th Army to go north to resist Japan, and also led the army and the people to open up the Yunnan Burma Highway, laying a solid foundation for China's victory in the War of Resistance.
This person is Long Yun, the "King of Yunnan" who has been in the limelight in Yunnan for more than ten years.
Long Yun was born in Yunnan Province, a remote area with almost no educational institutions, and Long Yun did not go to school since childhood, and failed to receive an early enlightenment education. It was not until the death of his parents that Long Yun defected to his uncle's family and was sent to Zhaotong City to study.
In 1911, Long Yun and his cousin Lu Han joined the Wei Huanzhang Department of comrade Baolu and began their military careers. The next year, under the influence of the revolution, after returning to Yunnan with the army, he was admitted to the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall to study. At that time, Long Yun never dreamed that he would become the "King of Yunnan".
Later, general Cai Yi died, and Tang Jiyao took over the position of governor of Yunnan, commanding the Yunnan army for 14 years. At this time, Long Yun was appreciated by Tang Jiyao for his many military achievements in the army, and was appointed as the commander of the Fifth Army of the Founding Alliance.
In 1927, Long Yun launched the "February 6 Coup" to overthrow Tang Jiyao, and in the following year successfully ascended to the position of commander of the Yunnan Army, becoming the new generation of "Yunnan King".
During his tenure, Long Yun cared about the well-being of the people, never arbitrarily increased taxes, and often sent troops to help the people build roads and dig rivers, which won the love of the people in Yunnan. During his tenure in Yunnan, Long Yun had close ties with our party and conscientiously studied a lot of communist ideas.
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Long Yun immediately reorganized his own Dian army, and reorganized the 40,000 Dian army into the 60th Army, led by Lu Han, and ordered to leave immediately to the front line. A month later, Long Yun once again reorganized the remaining Dian army into the 58th Army, led by Sun Du, and rushed to the front line to resist Japan. These two armies then became the mainstay of the anti-Japanese battlefield, especially the 60th Army led by Luhan, which received special training from German military advisers and became the strength of the country, and made many achievements in the anti-Japanese battlefield.
At that time, the Japanese army imposed a total blockade on China by land, sea and air in an attempt to prevent internationally funded materials from entering China. In this case, Long Yun led the military and civilians of Yunnan to build the Yunnan Burma Highway, which also became the lifeline during China's War of Resistance.
Why would such a famous anti-war general go down the field overnight?
Quite simply, Long Yun has always been close to our party, which makes Chiang Kai-shek very uncomfortable, always wary of Long Yun everywhere, moreover, Long Yun is in the Yunnan region, the mountains are high and the water is far away, Chiang Kai-shek has no confidence in being able to control Long Yun. Therefore, he has been trying to force Long Yun to go into the wilderness.
In 1945, the arduous War of Resistance finally won victory, and it was at this time that Chiang Kai-shek saw an opportunity to solve the "King of Yunnan" Long Yun. At this time, the war had just ended, and the main forces in Yunnan were still on the front line and had not returned to Yunnan, and the weak defense of Yunnan at this time was a good opportunity to solve Longyun.
After that, Chiang Kai-shek ordered Lu Han to lead the Dian army to the Vietnamese region to accept the surrender of the Japanese army, Lu Han of course thought of the problem of the weak defense of Yunnan, so he proposed to Chiang Kai-shek to leave three divisions of troops to defend Yunnan, but Chiang Kai-shek refused, on the grounds that the task of surrender was important. Luján did not think much about it, believing that the war had been won and that there should be no more mistakes, so he led his army to Vietnam.
As soon as Lu Han led his army to the front foot, Chiang Kai-shek ordered Du Yuming to immediately surround Long Yun's mansion in Kunming and arrest him. When Long Yun learned of this news, he immediately fled to the vicinity of Wuhua Mountain and ordered all the Yunnan armed forces to support Kunming, but at this time, the city of Kunming was already in the hands of Du Yuming, all the news was blocked, and Long Yun's order naturally did not go out.
Later, Long Yun was captured by Du Yuming and forcibly sent to Chongqing, where he was forced to go down under the pressure of Chiang Kai-shek. After Lu Han returned with his army, he did not see Long Yun but received a letter of appointment from Chiang Kai-shek, and Lu Han became the new commander of Yunnan.
