First of all, on behalf of the China Reportage Literature Society, I would like to express my warm congratulations on the publication of the long-form reportage "Million Migrants" and the holding of today's seminar. "Millions of Immigrants" is a theme extracted from the changes of the times, the progress of China, and the call of the people, and is a literary and artistic work that expresses the aspirations, creative strength, and development of the xihaigu immigrant masses, and shows the spiritual atmosphere of the new era.
It is not an exaggeration to say that Ningxia Xihaigu is a sample of poverty in China. More than 30 years ago, I went to Xihaigu in Ningxia for my reportage creation. Standing on the reckless wasteland, I felt a kind of sadness. But at the same time, I also felt the indomitable spirit of resistance of the sons and daughters of Ningxia in the face of hardships and hardships. In particular, those mountain village teachers, under such harsh and harsh conditions, stood in obscurity and without complaint on this barren land.
Since the 1980s, the sons and daughters of Ningxia have sung a magnificent song of millions of immigrants. 1.23 million poor people have moved out of places where mountains and ravines are deep and unsuitable for human survival, accounting for 1/6 of Ningxia's total population and 1/3 of Ningxia's farmers. Literature is the clarion call of the times, and "Millions of Immigrants" is a literary interpretation of the great practice of the Communist Party of China in leading the Chinese people out of poverty.
Reportage is about people. In the book, we read the wonderful life stories of the Liu Crane brothers, Qiao Wensheng, Wang Hangdi, Jiao Jianpeng, etc., who are the representatives of millions of immigrants. Over the past few decades, 1.23 million migrants have created history and created times, created miracles of relocating and creating oases and rebuilding new homes, and from them, we can see the struggle of the people, the pulse of the times, and the brilliance of life.
I have noticed that in recent years, some media reporters have participated in the team of reportage creation and written many excellent reportage works. Wang Jianhong, the author of "Millions of Immigrants" and the director of the Ningxia Reporter Station of Guangming Daily, has lived and worked in Ningxia for a long time, and he has a deep love for this land and a deep understanding of the history of millions of immigrants. His millions of immigrants seem particularly real and convincing to read, and this work, published at the node of the intersection of two centuries, is just in time and has a leading exemplary role.
In the face of the new era, each of us writers must not only record the changes of the times and social changes, but also become the precursors of the changes of the times and social changes, and look forward to producing more reportage masterpieces on the land of Ningxia.
