CES 2022 has opened, many manufacturers have brought their own new products, as a VR head manufacturer HTC will certainly not be absent.
HTC has released a new VR tracking device, the Vive Wrist Tracker wrist tracker, for its $1,300 enterprise-class standalone headset Vive Focus 3. It is expected to go on sale sometime in the early part of this year, starting at $129 (about 821 yuan).
HTC said in the announcement that the tracker allows users to tie it to their wrists for what the company calls "advanced hand tracking," or to objects such as gun controllers, ping-pong rackets or tools.
The demo video shows that the Vive wrist tracker can operate the simulated gun, enabling a virtual weapon tracked by 6DoF (3 types of panning freedom + 3 types of rotational freedom).
HTC says the Vive wrist tracker is 85 percent smaller and 50 percent lighter than the Vive Focus 3's handle, at 63 grams. Up to 4 hours of continuous use, charging via USB-C.
