Zhongxin Network Hangzhou, January 4 (strict Xie Panpan Wang inscription) "On the beam! Recently, the main hall of the Deshou Palace Site Protection and Display Project in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province and the Southern Song Dynasty Museum (Phase I) Project was on the beam, and the steel structure protection shed was fully roofed. It is exactly one year since the previous start of the restoration.

The mysterious veil of the Southern Song Dynasty will also gradually unfold with the revival of the ruins of the important palace, Deoksugung Palace.

From the Song Dynasty to the present, it has been a thousand years. Bao Weimin, president of the China Song History Research Association, believes that the prosperous economy and culture of the Song Dynasty had a profound impact on future generations. To this day, people's aesthetics and value orientation are still deeply influenced by Song Yun.

In 2021, the Cultural Work Conference of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee proposed the implementation of the "Song Yun Culture Inheritance Project" to form a work system for the excavation, protection, promotion, research and inheritance of Song Yun culture. Recently, a reporter from China News Service visited some scholars and industry insiders in Zhejiang to discuss the past and present lives of Song Yun culture.

Discover the Southern Song Dynasty

Zheng Jiali, deputy director of the Zhejiang Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, believes that in discussing song yun culture today, it is necessary to extract elements with identification degree, in line with the spirit of the times and improve the quality of life of the people from the local historical and cultural resources of the Song Dynasty, and orderly promote the construction of song yun traditional culture with ruins, displays, visible, perceptible and inheritable.

In his view, for a dynasty, the landmark cultural relics are the imperial city and the imperial tomb. The reason for the rich historical and cultural atmosphere of Beijing and Xi'an is mainly because of the charm and popularity of the Forbidden City and the Ming Tombs, the Tang Daming Palace and the Mausoleum of the First Emperor of Qin, while the surface buildings of the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial Mausoleum Shaoxing song six tombs and the Phoenix Mountain Southern Song Imperial City have disappeared, and the ruins are buried deep underground. Therefore, through archaeology and other forces to comprehensively and scientifically restore the digital model of lin'an city in the Southern Song Dynasty, including the imperial city, this is the basic work of the Song Yun project.

It is gratifying that Zheng Jiali said that at present, through years of archaeological excavations, the Shanggong has completed paper restoration and is about to enter digital "restoration". "The architectural regulations of the Song Liu Ling are basically the same, as long as one of the cemeteries is restored, it means that other cemeteries may also be restored."

More importantly, the successful restoration of the Upper Palace of the Sixth Tomb of the Song Dynasty has provided more confidence and possibilities for the archaeological excavation and archaeological restoration of the Imperial City of the Southern Song Dynasty in Hangzhou. Since the song tombs, where the remains of the song are gone, can be restored through the work of archaeologists, the imperial city of the Southern Song Dynasty should have a better chance to regain its old appearance.

The Southern Song Dynasty had Hangzhou as its capital. Known as the "North Inner" of the Southern Song Dynasty, Deoksugung Palace is now located on the banks of the Zhonghe River in Hangzhou, which was the former residence of Qin Juniper during the Southern Song Dynasty, and later lived and lived after emperor Gaozong and Emperor Xiaozong of song ascended the throne. Historical records record that the palace here is large in scale and exquisite in architecture and gardens.

After the discovery of the ruins of Deoksugung Palace in 1984, the Hangzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology has excavated it four times, which lasted for nearly 20 years.

It is understood that the ruins of Deoksugung Palace are not only one of the few sites in China that have undergone systematic archaeology, complete disclosure and in-depth study of the Southern Song Dynasty, but also the only site that integrates the royal palace garden and the Jiangnan garden.

Wang Zhengyu, deputy director of the Hangzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, introduced that through archaeological excavations, the boundary between the eastern, southern and western walls of Deoksugung Palace was determined.

Although the total excavation volume is less than one-twentieth of Deoksugung Palace. However, the results were fruitful, and archaeologists found rich archaeological remains such as palace walls, convenient doors, large temple foundations, roads, pools, water channels, rockeries, and drainage ditches.

In archaeology, Wang Zhengyu has a deep feeling for Song Yun: the cross-shaped parquet floor tiles, the elaborate eaves tiles, and the staggered garden landscaping reflect the Southern Song Dynasty people's pursuit of artistic life.

These also provide a solid archaeological basis for the future restoration of the site.

In addition, excavations also found the "toilet" of Qin Juniper's home: near the other side of the Broken Head River, between some square bricks, a large cylinder with a diameter of more than 1 meter was erected.

In addition, it is understood that as an important indicator cultural relic of the southern Song Dynasty archaeology, the archaeological work of the southern Song Dynasty imperial city site is also advancing in an orderly manner.

Restoration of the Southern Song Dynasty

Bao Weimin, president of the China Song History Research Association and professor at the School of History of Chinese Min University, believes that to implement the "Song Yun Cultural Inheritance Project", it is first necessary to protect, sort out and solidify the ruins and relics of the Southern Song Dynasty. Hangzhou should speed up the construction of the Deoksugung Palace ruins protection and display project, and display many relics of the Southern Song Dynasty in the Southern Song Museum. Like Shaoxing and other places, there are many well-recognized relics such as the hometowns of celebrities, which need to be protected and excavated.

At present, the Hangzhou Deshou Palace Ruins Protection and Display Project and the Southern Song Museum (Phase I) are also advancing in the "intensive", and its restoration is the first landmark in Hangzhou to display an important carrier of the history of the Southern Song Dynasty on a large scale.

As a famous historical and cultural city and one of the seven ancient capitals, but in the important time section of the "Southern Song Dynasty", Hangzhou has long lacked a representative architectural landscape that can be viewed.

As the first important carrier in Hangzhou to display the history and culture of the Southern Song Dynasty on a large scale, Deoksugung Palace will show the most authentic Song Yun culture to the public and tourists through the exhibition of ruins, architectural restoration and digital display.

The excavated sites can become world heritage sites, important sites can be protected at the original site, can be built into a site park to serve the community, in the view of Wang Zhengyu, deputy director of the Hangzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, this is the three major luck of archaeologists, and now the ruins of the Southern Song Dynasty Deshou Palace can be displayed according to archaeological restoration and protection, which is also his most gratifying as an archaeologist.

It is reported that at present, the deoksugung palace site protection display and southern Song Dynasty Museum Phase I (Central and Western District) project is being implemented, with a land area of 21,367 square meters, a building height of 18.6 meters, and a total construction area of 12,321 square meters. The overall architectural layout is based on the original pattern of Deoksugung Palace, which is based on comprehensive literature and archaeological speculation, and continues the pattern of Deoksugung Palace's "Nangong North Garden", mainly through the two main buildings of the Central District Protection Hall Shed and the West District Protection Hall Shed, showing the juxtaposition of the two palaces of Deoksugung Palace.

Huang Zi, the design host of the Deoksugung Palace project and the former president of the Zhejiang Ancient Architecture Design and Research Institute, showed reporters the appearance of the restored Deoksugung Palace ruins: the atmospheric nave, the side hall is lined up on the side, and the "hidden" corner hides the Song-style royal garden.

Wang Zhengyu was amazed by the archaeological excavations of the Song Dynasty royal gardens, he felt that the Han and Tang dynasty royal gardens before the Song Dynasty were relatively rugged and won by occupying an area, and the "elegant, handsome, ingenious and feminine" style of the Song Dynasty gardens represented by Deoksugung Palace had a great influence on future generations.

Since 2020, the construction of the Deoksugung Palace ruins protection and display project has been "non-stop".

In the Deoksugung Project, Huang Zi believes that there are three major difficulties to break through: One is that the groundwater level is high, how to waterproof? The second is how can the public feel the Song Yun culture through the ruins? The third is how to restore the layout and the design of the scene in the temple?

Now the key measures for the protection of the site have also been cut to stop the water curtain, and the waterproof problem has been solved.

After the completion of the Central District Palace, the underground layer is the site layer, which will truly display the Southern Song Dynasty cultural layer at 2.5-4 meters underground, and at the same time focus on the archaeological excavations and more than 1,000 cultural relics collected from the Song Dynasty period. The site has a protective cover, followed by a surface hall, whose column network structure corresponds exactly to the column network structure of the site found by archaeology.

However, Huang Zi believes that the most difficult thing is to restore the layout and the design of the scene in the temple.

Due to the lack of construction references, the current architectural design of Deoksugung Palace is basically carried out in accordance with the Song Dynasty's "Construction French Style" to restore the appearance of the Southern Song Dynasty to the greatest extent.

But what is the moi pattern used in the temple? What color is used for the pillars? How many chairs are there? Did Emperor Xiaozong of the Southern Song Dynasty stand or sit when he met Emperor Gaozong?

Wang Zhengyu also believes that the most difficult thing to restore is the details. A tile, customized several times is not ideal, and finally with the excavation of deoksugung original tiles to remove the mold, there is a feeling.

Song Yun: Fly into the homes of the people

Zheng Jiali believes that the Song Yun culture in the narrow sense can be summarized as "the art of life, the life of art." "The Song Dynasty made the elegant culture of the classical nobility into the homes of ordinary people, and made the daily life of the commoners refined and artistic. The culture of the Song Dynasty is distinguished from the Han and Tang dynasties with its prominent characteristics of popularization, secularization and human culture. This makes song yun culture easier to get close to the people, more convenient for the past to use for the present, especially for the combination of culture and tourism to provide a broad space.

Bao Weimin said that most of the relics of the Southern Song Dynasty sites currently exist as isolated cases, and they can reproduce the urban pattern of Lin'an at that time with the help of digital technology, reconstruct the three-dimensional traffic routes of the two Zhejiang Roads and even the whole country, and open up tourist routes, so that people can feel the cultural beauty of that year in the process of tourism, and realize the rich connotation and era value of Song Yun culture.

Tokumura Shisei, a member of the Expert Committee of the World Tourism Cities Federation, also "made a move" for the construction of Song Yun: The rhyme of Song Yun is also the connotation of cultural heritage, soft and connotative, and the construction of Song Yun should not only be a Song-style building built on modern land, but also consider the connotation and extension of the "trilogy", that is, there is a concept first, and then there is a building body, and then the atmosphere is created.

The reporter learned that in order to implement the "Song Yun Cultural Inheritance Project" with higher quality, the provincial and municipal three-level work class led by the Propaganda Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee has taken shape, which is composed of a number of provincial-level relevant units in Zhejiang Province and key cities such as Hangzhou and Shaoxing.

Nowadays, Hangzhou takes the protection and utilization project of the ruins of the Southern Song Dynasty Imperial City as the traction, digs deep into and combs the cultural resources of the Song Dynasty, further launches the "Ancient Capital of the Southern Song Dynasty" brand, and innovates the "Song Yun Hangzhou-style Life Festival" elegant collection activities; Shaoxing uses the rich Song Yun cultural resources such as the Song Liuling Tombs and Lu You to create a unique "Shaoxing Charm" of the Song Yun culture; Ningbo combs and summarizes the material and intangible heritage of the "Song Yun Yong Cun" and tells the story of "Song Yun" Ningbo well...

"Rejuvenate with paintings", "Flowers in spring", "Tea tasting on the Tao", "Cultural Fun And Appreciation", the "Song Yun Hangzhou-style Life Festival" carried out in Hangzhou, the elegant collection activities will show the elegant life of the Song people. Song Yun's aesthetics surprised everyone for a while.

And this New Year's Day holiday, Song Yun Culture International Communication Park was grandly unveiled in Hangzhou Wushan Chenghuangge Scenic Area. It is understood that the park is the first Song Yun theme cultural park in Hangzhou with multicultural activities as the carrier and accurate communication as the orientation.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism, they will continue to carry out in-depth excavation and research on the connotation of Song Yun culture, reproduce the traditional culture, art and life of "Song Yun" in the form of digitization, scenario and art, polish the golden business card of Hangzhou Song Yun culture, and walk in the forefront of Zhejiang's acceleration of building a cultural highland in the new era.
