1. Risk to pregnant mothers

2. Risk to the fetus
(1) Premature birth. The most common case of multiple births is preterm birth, which accounts for more than half of the cases, and complications of preterm birth increase the risk of stillbirth by about 5 times and the risk of neonatal death by 6 times.
(2) Intrauterine growth restriction. Intrauterine growth restriction can result from being overcrowded in the uterus or because the placenta cannot keep up with nutrition.
(3) Excessive amniotic fluid. Multiple pregnancies produce more fluid than singletons, and if you have too much hydramnios, be sure to observe it as directed.
(4) Umbilical cord abnormality: single amniotic sac twins are prone to umbilical cord entanglement and twisting, which can lead to fetal death, umbilical cord prolapse is also a common complication of twins, mostly occurs in the abnormal fetal position of twins, or premature rupture of membranes when the fetus is not connected first, and after the first child is delivered, before the second child is delivered, is the main cause of acute hypoxia death of the fetus.
(5) Twin transfusion syndrome. Between 10% and 15% of identical twins develop this syndrome, a serious complication in which blood flows from one baby to another through a shared placenta.
