In the northeast, there is such a rural woman, although she is illiterate and born poor, she insists on encouraging her family to actively join the army, from husband to son to grandson, three generations of the family have joined the army under her encouragement.
This ordinary and great rural woman was named Li Guilan.
Back in early 1947, the Northeast Liberated Areas were in full swing to carry out the land reform movement, and Li Guilan, who had fled to this land, married his fellow villager Wang Xingxiang and was also assigned his own field.
I thought that the good days were coming, but I didn't think that the Kuomintang troops would soon fight, would they defend their homeland or continue to flee? Li Guilan did not hesitate to choose the former.
At that time, although she was pregnant, she still insisted on encouraging her husband to sign up for the army. Shortly after her husband's departure, their first child died. The husband was absent, the child died prematurely, this huge blow did not make Li Guilan flinch, in order to make her husband feel at ease to fight, she chose to bear this pain alone.
The couple separated for seven years, and it was not until 1953 that Li Guilan met her long-separated husband in Guangzhou.
If it is said that encouraging her husband to join the army is forced by life, then sending his son and grandson to join the army reflects the military feelings flowing in Li Guilan's heart and the simple feelings of defending the family and defending the country.
In 1977, China restored the college entrance examination system, and mathematicians studied day and night, just to seize this hard-won opportunity, including Li Guilan's son Wang Rongqiang.
However, at that time, when the contradictions between China and Vietnam were acute, and the border situation was tense, Li Guilan, after hearing about it, advised his son to give up the idea of entering the university and let him become a soldier to defend his family and country. Under the strong persuasion of his mother, Wang Rongqiang finally gave up the idea of entering the university and joined the army instead, becoming a transport soldier.
Unfortunately, Wang Rongqiang did not have the opportunity to go to the front line to fight, and stayed in the logistics department for three years to engage in transportation work until the expiration of his service period. At this time, he thought of regaining his dream of studying.
However, after Li Guilan knew his son's thoughts, he strongly objected, saying: "Since you joined the army, you will always be a soldier, how can you be a deserter halfway!" In this way, Wang Rongqiang took the initiative to apply to become a volunteer until 1985, when he officially joined the army.
In those years, Wang Rongqiang has always kept in mind his mother's instructions, and he is more aware of his father's heroic deeds, so he is particularly brave on the battlefield and was once rated as a "model in the field". At that time, Li Guilan, who was at home, was not idle, in order to let his son fight without concern, the old man wrote several letters in succession and sent them to the front line to encourage his son to be a qualified soldier.

Fast forward to 2009, Li Guilan is already in her 80s, and she began to think about sending her grandson Wang Yujue, who was about to graduate from college, to join the army. After hearing the news that the troops were recruiting college students to enlist in the army in the local area, Li Guilan took the initiative to register his grandson despite his physical inconvenience.
In fact, Wang Yujue originally planned to work as a teacher in a local middle school, but under the persuasion of his grandmother Li Guilan, he eventually went to the army to report and put on a military uniform.
In the army, Wang Yujue inherited the tradition of his grandfather and father, trained hard, performed outstandingly, and was admitted to the Nanchang Army Academy by self-study, and has been working in the military organs ever since.
Three generations of grandchildren have joined the army under the persuasion of Li Guilan, and all of them have performed well, and it is not easy to become a well-known military home!
Later, after Li Guilan's deeds were reported by the media, the old man proudly told reporters: "In the war years, they called me 'good military sister-in-law', in peacetime they called me 'soldier mother', and now I am 'soldier grandmother'." My family is now a soldier for 3 generations, as long as the country needs it, my family will also have a 4th generation of soldiers and a 5th generation of soldiers..."
