The Third Field Army during the Liberation War was a revolutionary armed force led by President Chen Lao, whose predecessor was the East China Field Army. The East China Field Army was formed in 1947 by the merger of the Shandong Field Army and the Central China Field Army, and the commander was still General Chen Lao, and the deputy commander was the famous General Su Yu.
Under the leadership of these two famous generals, the Third Field Army participated in the famous Battle of Crossing the River, broke through the Yangtze River defense line that Chiang Kai-shek had carefully deployed, led a million troops to cross the Yangtze River, liberated the area south of the Yangtze River, and then launched the Shanghai Campaign to liberate this large industrial city, and the troops pointed directly at Nanjing, the center of Chiang Kai-shek's rule. Just after the Battle of Nanjing, the Third Field Army took over the big city, leaving some soldiers and horses to maintain law and order in Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou and other places, including the commander of the Third Field Army, Mr. Chen Laozong, who was also appointed as the first mayor of Shanghai. Another part of the men and horses, under the leadership of Ye Fei, commander of the Tenth Corps, attacked the southeast and liberated Fujian and other places.

In the above battles, the liberated areas are the records created by the Third Field Army during the Liberation War since its inception. It is a heroic force that can swing troops directly into Nanjing, the center of Chiang Kai-shek's rule, and force Chiang Kai-shek to flee. During the war years, four brave and good tiger armies were also created. These four fierce tiger armies are all good at charging on the battlefield, and they are the four favorite units of Commander Chen Laozong, and they are regarded as three wild and four sharp knives.
The 20th Army of the Mino Tiger Army is an ace army that is both offensive and defensive, and brave in battle. Its predecessor was the Mindong Independent Division, which had been fighting guerrillas for three years in the south, and after the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Independent Division was reorganized into the Third Sixth Regiment of the New Fourth Army, but after the Anhui Incident, the Sixth Regiment was expanded into the First Division of the New Fourth Army, and the division commander was General Su Yu, who had three brigade commanders under its jurisdiction, namely Ye Fei, Wang Bicheng, and Tao Yong. During the Liberation War, the First Division of the New Fourth Army was expanded into the First Column, with Ye Fei as the commander of the column and Lai Chuanzhu as the political commissar.
Under the leadership of these two famous generals, the first column became a heroic unit with good discipline and tenacious style. It has gone through countless fierce battles, big and small, and has played a prestigious name in East China, becoming a column that commander Chen Laozong is very important. In February 1949, the first column was reorganized into the 20th Army, with Liu Fei as the commander and Ye Fei, the former commander of the column, as the commander of the Tenth Corps, so he did not serve as the commander of this tiger army.
The 23rd Army of the Mino Tiger Army was also an ace unit that was both offensive and defensive. Its predecessor was the Advancing Division of the Fujian-Zhejiang Military Region, and it was also a revolutionary contingent that insisted on fighting guerrillas in the south. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, it was reorganized into the New Fourth Army. Because this unit continued the fine tradition of the Southern Red Army not being afraid of hardship and tiredness, it led to the reorganization into the Fourth Column of the East China Field Army during the Liberation War, and under the leadership of Commander Tao Yong, it became a tiger army on the battlefield. No matter how harsh the environment, this column can always create miracles in adversity and become the ace column that annihilates the most enemies. Later, in 1949, huaye's fourth column was reorganized into the 23rd army, and the commander was Tao Yong, the former commander of the column. The 23rd Army then threw itself into the Battle of the River Crossing, liberated Hangzhou with its brother troops, and marched into Shanghai.
The 24th Army of the Mino Tiger Army, the predecessor of this unit, was also a Red Army unit that insisted on guerrilla warfare in the south for three years. After that, it was unified and reorganized into the New Fourth Army, and during the eight-year War of Resistance, the new Fourth Army was also expanded, from the original 9,000 people to 90,000 or even more. After the victory of the War of Resistance, a small part of this unit was reorganized into the Sixth Column of the Central China Field Army, and the commander was the famous Wang Bicheng, who was also the commander of the later 24th Army.
In the following period of the Liberation War, Wang Bicheng led this force to kill Chiang Kai-shek's beloved zhang Lingfu in the Battle of Menglianggu. Subsequently, he followed the deputy commander Su Yu through the Central Plains and participated in the Battle of Eastern Henan and the famous Battle of Huaihai. In these battles, the performance of this unit, which is obvious to all, has become an ace army that commanders must use in every battle.
The Twenty-seventh Army of the Sanye Tiger Army was formed by the reorganization of the Eighth Route Army in the Jiaodong area during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and the commander of the column at that time was Xu Shiyou. Under his leadership, the column moved to the battlefields of Shandong and East China, and was one of the main forces in the hands of the commander at that time, General Chen Laozong. Since the commander Xu Shiyou was a fierce general, it was natural that the Ninth Column, which was also a fierce tiger army on the battlefield, had outstanding performances in the Battle of Menglianggu, the Battle of Jinan, and the Ninth Column of the Battle of Huaihai. At the same time, on the battlefield, it was also annihilated, and a large number of enemy troops had a living force. However, after Huaye's Ninth Column was reorganized into the 27th Army, the commander was not Xu Shiyou, but his right-hand man Nie Fengzhi as the commander of the 27th Army. Leading the troops to participate in the Battle of Crossing the River, the Battle of Shanghai, especially in the Battle of Shanghai, the 27th Army took the lead in breaking through the enemy's positions and stationed in Shanghai, making certain contributions to the cause of the war of liberation of the whole country.
