Contemporary and Global Perspectives on Chinese Studies

In 2021, Fudan University promoted outstanding papers in philosophy and social sciences

"Contemporary and Global Perspectives of Chinese Language Studies" was published in Language Strategy Research, No. 3, 2021, reprinted in Academic Digest of Liberal Arts in Colleges and Universities, No. 5, 2021, and selected as "2021 Annual Recommendation Paper of Shanghai Federation of Social Societies".

The article points out that since the reform and opening up, the Chinese language itself and its use function and the language life of the whole people have undergone unprecedented changes, and in the history of the development of the Chinese language, the Chinese language since the reform and opening up can be called contemporary Chinese. Contemporary Chinese has different developments and changes from modern Chinese in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and language function. For example, new phonological phenomena such as the zero-voice vowel conjugation and pronunciation of lip and tooth vowels are produced, a large number of community words and dialect words become national words, a large number of alphabetic words are produced, the transformation of word classes is intensified, a number of new constructive suffixes appear, and foreign words tend to be transliterated; the frequency and occasion of dialect use are reduced, dialects are shrinking, the rapid growth of Mandarin mother tongues, and the high-level language status of Mandarin and the low-level language status of dialects are becoming clearer.

The internationalization of the Chinese language has a long history, and in recent years, due to China's implementation of the reform and opening up policy, the exchanges between Chinese people at home and abroad and their Chinese languages have been unprecedentedly prosperous, and overseas Chinese language teaching has flourished, and this historical process has been greatly accelerated. The specific manifestations are as follows: the distribution of overseas Chinese communities and their ethnic structures have changed greatly, the structure of overseas Chinese language types has changed synchronously, simplified characters have become increasingly popular, the frequency and occasion of Putonghua have increased greatly, and the Chinese dialects have shrunk, especially it is worth noting that Chinese at home and abroad have a tendency to integrate with each other, especially the vocabulary is gradually converging in competition with each other.

Chinese language studies must have a contemporary and global outlook in order to adapt to the current situation of rapid changes in Chinese at home and abroad.

A Century of World History and China's Path

In 2021, Fudan University promoted outstanding papers in philosophy and social sciences

"A Century of World History and China's Path" was published in China Social Sciences, No. 6, 2021.

The article pointed out: Marked by the founding of the Communist Party of China, a decisive turning point has taken place in China's historical practice in modern times, and thus opened up a century-long exploration of the Chinese road. The century-long exploration of the Chinese road has carried out the historical practice of unifying modernization with the sinification of Marxism in the context of "world history"; when this practice progresses to socialism with Chinese characteristics and reaches a new historical orientation, the historical process of the Chinese road shows its "world historical significance"; the acquisition of this significance makes China's development related to today's world history in the following way, that is, to open up the possibility of a new type of civilization The Chinese nation will make greater contributions to mankind as it stands on its own feet among the nations of the world and is moving closer and closer to the center of the world stage.

The questions this article attempts to explore are: (1) How can modernity open up world history and set its basic framework so that China's modernization process is inevitable? (2) In the overall context of world history, how can China's modernization cause establish an essential connection with Marxism, and then continuously realize the sinicization of Marxism? (3) How does the century-long exploration of the Chinese road continuously promote the unification of modernization and the sinification of Marxism, and make such a unification historically realized at different stages? (4) As a contemporary form of the Chinese road, what is the significance of socialism with Chinese characteristics for world history, and thus for the historical changes in the world today?

Paradigm Shifts and the Development of Cultural Concepts in Archaeology

In 2021, Fudan University promoted outstanding papers in philosophy and social sciences

"Paradigm Change and the Development of Archaeological And Cultural Concepts" was published in China Social Science, No. 9, 2021, and is a theoretical article on the construction of "the characteristics, style and style of Chinese archaeology in the new era" of philosophy and social science with Chinese characteristics.

The author of the article pointed out that "archaeological culture" has always been a key concept in the theoretical system of Chinese archaeology, and its main role is to arrange the time and space of excavated materials using typology and stratigraphy methods, and to sort out the chaotic material culture in an orderly manner. However, it is difficult to see through the flaws of man, which hinders efforts to further transform the history of material culture into popular human history.

The article points out that the goal of Chinese archaeology is to reconstruct the history of the country, which requires isolated and static description and collation of archaeological materials, and shifts to dynamic research oriented to human behavior, in order to explore and supplement the history of social development that is different from the history of literature. At present, China's scientific and technological archaeology is booming, bringing new opportunities for archaeological research and historical reconstruction. This urgently requires us to elevate the paradigm and give new meanings to the concept of "archaeological culture" with functions, systems and processes. At the same time, it strengthens the multidisciplinary intersection and integration of history, science and technology and humanities, deeply explores the role played by material culture in the development of ancient society, and then solves the key problems of technology, population, economy, society and belief, and makes theoretical interpretations of the laws of social development.

Contemporary archaeology has become a worldwide discipline that runs through ancient and modern times in time and covers the whole world in space, and Chinese archaeology should reflect its national nature from the world background. This requires us to rank among the world's academics, contribute to the world's scholarship, and use the results of international standards to highlight our research strength.

"Unearthed Documents and New Evidence of the Classic of Mountains and Seas"

In 2021, Fudan University promoted outstanding papers in philosophy and social sciences

"Unearthed Documents and New Evidence of the Classic of Mountains and Seas", published in China Social Sciences, No. 1, 2021. This article is a one-page abstract of China Social Science Digest, No. 3, 2021, and is included in the "Writing of Research Papers on Pre-Qin Ancient History: Cases and Methods" edited by Ning Zhenjiang and Gao Xiaojun, Shanghai University Press, November 2021.

The "Classic of Mountains and Seas" has a wide range of contents, and compared with the relevant excavated documents, it can be seen that the "Classic of Mountains and Seas" has a strong "mathematical" color, rich "naturalism" content, and inherits the tradition of "Zhi Wei". Originally accompanied by maps, the Classic of Mountains and Seas can be considered to be a comprehensive book mixed with mathematical techniques, natural objects, zhiwei and mythology within the geographical framework. The "Bear's Den", "Like the Beginning of the Bow Arrow" and "Nie Er" recorded in the "Classic of Mountains and Seas" can be corroborated with the contents of the excavated Chu Jian, Chu Shu Shu, and Qin Jian, and have high historical value. Comparing the words "刉", "infant use", and "no squint" in the Classic of Mountains and Seas with the excavated documents, combined with the use of word habits and image comparison, it can be seen that the "Shan Jing" part of the "Classic of Mountains and Seas" was produced no later than the Warring States at the latest, and the region produced is likely to be in Chudi, and its author should also be a Chu person. The excavated documents can be used to correct the words "峚", "Mao", "駚", "Zhan Zhu" and other words in the Classic of Mountains and Seas.

Re-examination of Platform Economy Development: Monopolies and New Challenges to Digital Taxation

In 2021, Fudan University promoted outstanding papers in philosophy and social sciences

"Re-examination of Platform Economy Development: Monopolies and New Challenges of Digital Taxation" was published in China Social Sciences, No. 3, 2021.

The article points out that the platform economy accelerates the effective docking of production and circulation, exchange and consumption, improves production efficiency, shortens circulation time, and promotes the great development of social productivity; it also faces new problems such as the bottleneck of the development of digital technology monopoly and the challenge of international digital taxation. The monopoly of the platform economy is closely related to its technical characteristics, so it is necessary to strengthen anti-monopoly governance.

From the perspective of the international relations of production, digital taxation is a new challenge brought about by the unbalanced development of platform economic globalization. The dispute over the distribution of international tax benefits is a new manifestation of the deepening of basic contradictions in the process of capital accumulation in the global industrial chain. China is a big country in the digital economy, and the development of the platform economy has the advantage of scale. Under the new development pattern, it is necessary to actively manage the monopoly of digital technology, actively respond to the new challenges of digital taxation, and smooth the double cycle at home and abroad. The paper systematically discusses the monopoly issues that are most concerned about the development of the digital economy and the digital tax that is being implemented internationally, responds to the theoretical frontiers of the development of the digital economy and the problems in the development of practice, and proposes China's countermeasures. Another feature of this paper is the full application of Marxist political economy principles to analyze and examine the development of the digital economy.

After the publication of the paper, it has aroused widespread concern from the academic community and the attention of government departments, and the Chinese Social Sciences Journal has also made an abstract of the paper and reported it to the relevant departments, and many domestic media have pushed this article.

Journalism in the Midst of Changing Communication Structures and Their Future Directions

In 2021, Fudan University promoted outstanding papers in philosophy and social sciences

"Journalism in the Changing Communication Structure and Its Future Direction" (Jiang Hua and Zhang Taofu) was published in the "New Round of Scientific and Technological Revolution and Social Science" column of China Social Sciences, No. 8, 2021. From the beginning of the preparation to the publication of the paper, the two authors went through more than two years and more than forty revisions. The paper is one of the few papers published in this important academic journal in the field of journalism and communication in the past four decades.

The scientific and technological revolution has brought about earth-shaking changes in journalism. Traditional journalism, relying on the combined forces of various structural elements, has gradually moved from the fringes of the social system to the center, which eventually led to the "closure" of the communication structure. Digital media based on "meta-technology" break down solidified professional barriers and deconstruct closed communication structures, thus promoting the rise of hybrid journalism. This new format of news dissemination originates from the "humanization" and "intelligence" of technology and the "technicalization" and "mediatization" of people, which is a news format in which human entities interact closely with non-human entities with new technological elements as the core and play an effective role together. Technology has become an important actor, "connection", "openness" and "process" have become the salient features of future news activities, and the relatively closed and stable "strong structural news reproduction" formed in the era of mass communication has gradually been replaced by the "weak structural news reproduction" that is open, connected and highly volatile. Journalism is highly uncertain in the midst of changes in the communication structure. Seeking relative certainty in the uncertainty of exceeding the limit has become a huge problem facing the current and future news communication practice.

Starting from structural theory, through the analysis of structural elements such as "technology cluster" and "news concept cluster", the paper clarifies the structural root causes of the difficulties encountered by traditional journalism, and makes forward-looking thinking on the direction of journalism and the future. After the publication of the paper, the "Chinese School", "Fudan New Academic" and "Rebuild the Tower of Babel" accumulated more than 6,000 times; the China Knowledge Network was launched for two months, downloaded more than 1,000 times, and peers have been quoted in the publication of the paper; which attracted the attention of the editors of the academic edition of China Social Science Daily, invited two authors to write a related article, and on December 2, 2021, it was published in the newspaper in the form of front-page headlines.

The Political Mechanism of Chinese Law: Based on the Comparative Perspective of the Qin and Han Dynasties and the Ancient Roman Period

In 2021, Fudan University promoted outstanding papers in philosophy and social sciences

"The Political Mechanism of Chinese Law: Based on the Comparative Perspective of the Qin and Han Dynasties and the Ancient Roman Period" was published in China Social Sciences, No. 10, 2021, which is an important achievement in the history of comparative law in recent years.

The article points out that in the important historical stage of the shaping of Chinese legal civilization, the Qin and Han dynasties established a typical centralized power system, and through the centralized allocation of resources and the concept of a strong state, it had a profound impact on the formal origin, implementation mode, focus areas and judicial standards of the "law". Compared with the ancient Rome of the same era, it can be seen that the two have formed very different characteristics. The Chinese concept of "law", centered on the unified law of the state in terms of origin, and has become the basic criterion of justice in practice, this feature has been basically fixed in the Qin and Han dynasties, in stark contrast to the pluralistic state of Roman law. At the same time, the implementation of traditional Chinese law was dominated by the public power of the state, with criminal punishment as an important means, and made great progress in criminal law; ancient Rome was obviously inclined to the model of party autonomy and confrontation system, and paid more attention to the field of civil law. In addition, under the centralized system of imperial China laid down by the Qin and Han Dynasties, the judicial bureaucracy control was strict, the fault tolerance was low, and the judges bore considerable judicial responsibility; in comparison, the flexibility of the ancient Roman law enforcement standards was relatively high, the bureaucratic control was weak, and the judicial responsibility was small. A comparison of the conditions of the two empires shows that the differences in "law" are closely related to the political power structure.

The explanatory comparison proposed in this article, which uses history as a testing ground, may go beyond the Orientalism of chinese and Western law comparisons, describe and understand Chinese law and tradition more deeply, and explain the relationship between law and other social factors.

Mission-oriented Political Parties: The Innovation and Development of the Theoretical Analysis Paradigm of New Political Parties

In 2021, Fudan University promoted outstanding papers in philosophy and social sciences

"Mission-oriented Political Parties: The Innovation and Development of the Paradigm of Theoretical Analysis of New Political Parties" was published in the top journal of political science, Political Science Research, No. 4, 2021, and was reprinted in full by the Chinese University of China,000, Political Science, No. 12, 2021.

"Mission-oriented political party" is an academic concept and theoretical paradigm with original value proposed by Chinese scholars, which was first proposed by Professor Tang Yalin in 2010. After about ten years of accumulation, this paper systematically constructs a new theoretical paradigm of mission-oriented political parties in both theory and practice. The concept and theoretical paradigm of "mission-oriented political party" have been widely recognized by the Chinese academic community, and have been written by the "Xinhua News Agency High-end Think Tank Research Group" in the report "The Pursuit and Exploration of The Common Values of All Mankind - The Chinese Practice of Democracy, Freedom and Human Rights", which was published in Qiushi, an organ journal sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, no. 24, 2021.

From the comparative perspective of experience and theory, this paper analyzes the erroneous assertion that political parties are only the "connection intermediaries" between the state and society in the classic Western political party theory, proposes to reconstruct the spectrum of the nature of political parties based on the functional types of political parties, and divides the main types of modern political parties in China and foreign countries into competitive political parties and mission-oriented parties from the comprehensive dimensions of theoretical assumptions, theoretical basis, relationship structure, organizational principles, role status, mission responsibility, political form, and development path. On this basis, with the development of modernization as the main line, the nature of political parties, the functions of political parties, the main role of political parties and the ideals of party politics are organically unified, and the thesis constructs a new type of political party theoretical analysis framework based on the "trinity" of nature, function and mission, and creates two major political party theoretical analysis paradigms of Chinese and foreign countries based on the competitive political party based on the vote-based concept and the mission-oriented political party based on the people-oriented view. The article believes that the way to promote the effective development of mission-oriented political parties lies in continuously developing, expanding, optimizing and strengthening the four pillars of party members, party cadres, party organizations, and the party's central leading group, tempering themselves in the great struggle, and finally embarking on a new path of modernization and development of human society of "conscience + good system + good governance".

"Analysis of the Difference Between Divorce Risks and Their Influencing Mechanisms in the Process of Population Mobility" was published in Chinese Science, No. 2, 2021.

In the current social transformation of China, marriage and family are undergoing profound changes, there have been phenomena such as an increase in the divorce rate and a decline in the marriage rate, and population migration is an aspect of social transformation, which also has an impact on the marriage and family of migrants. In the context of "migration to China", this paper analyzes the impact and influencing mechanism of population migration on the dissolution of marriage.

The results show that there are differences in the risk of divorce between different types of population movements and different floating population groups, and the divorce risk of urban floating population is higher than that of rural and urban floating populations; the divorce risk of cross-county floating population in close urban areas is higher; the divorce risk of premarital mobility is lower than that of postmarital mobility; and the mobility experience of parents has a negative impact on the marital stability of migrants.

This paper constructs an analytical framework for the impact of population migration on the disintegration of marriage, and proposes that different changes occur in the family, economic and social life of migrants in the process of population migration, so that population movement has different effects on the risk of divorce. Family separation in the process of mobility will increase the risk of divorce; the increase of economic resources in the process of mobility will reduce the risk of divorce; the integration of floating population into local society and more interaction and interaction with local society will make migrants more deeply affected by modern concepts, expand the alternative of the marriage market, and increase the risk of divorce. The traditional normative constraints of the social network of kinship and fellow countrymen reduce the risk of divorce.

The study proposes that in order to make the process of migration and mobility better support people's life welfare, it is necessary to support free choice and personal growth in the process of migration, and at the same time, it is necessary to help migrants fully adapt to the structural changes in family and socio-economic life that occur in the process of migration, pay more attention to people-centered development, and avoid the destructive effect of migration on marriage and family.

"China's Poverty Reduction "Miracle" from the Perspective of Urban-Rural Dual Structure Transformation"

In 2021, Fudan University promoted outstanding papers in philosophy and social sciences

"China's Poverty Reduction "Miracle" from the Perspective of Urban-Rural Dual Structure Transformation" was published in Academic Monthly, No. 9, 2020, reprinted in full by Academic Digest of Liberal Arts in Colleges and Universities, No. 6, 2020, and Socialist Economic Theory and Practice, No. 2, 2021, a copy of the National People's Congress, and selected as the "2021 Annual Recommendation Paper of Shanghai Federation of Social Societies".

The article believes that poverty reduction has been a major theme in China's modernization process since the founding of New China. China's poverty reduction process presents three characteristic facts: poverty reduction has achieved "miraculous" achievements on a global scale, poverty reduction achievements mainly occur in the high-growth stage after reform and opening up, and the poverty reduction process is accompanied by the transformation process of urban and rural dual structure. To this end, a logical and incorruptible analytical framework should be developed between the transformation of the binary structure, economic growth and poverty reduction achievements. At the level of logical deduction, the transformation of binary structure affects rural poverty reduction through the effect of labor redistribution, the effect of increasing agricultural productivity, the effect of population structure change, and the effect of allocation of financial resources, the former two mean economic growth, the latter two are embodied in poverty alleviation policies, and the combination of economic growth and poverty alleviation policies is the main reason for the formation of poverty reduction performance. The four effects of the transformation of the dual structure on poverty reduction can be supported by China's empirical evidence, and China's socialist system and the transformation of the economic system after the reform and opening up provide the institutional basis for the effect to be played. After 2020, China's poverty reduction strategy will enter the "second half", that is, relying on conventional methods and long-term mechanism construction to solve the problem of relative poverty in urban and rural areas, which needs to promote the reconnection of poverty reduction strategies and binary structural transformation in terms of development ideas and policy orientation.
