On January 2, "Hearing Beauty - Pu Ge Reading American Literature Recitation" took the stage at the Poly Theater, like a date that never lost faith, Pu Cunxin met with old friends and new partners in old places, holding up the flame of literature.
As the host Bai Yansong said at the beginning: "'Hearing beauty' can let us temporarily forget the anxiety under the epidemic and regain the beauty in our hearts." On the stage, Pu Cunxin, Index Finger, Huang Hong, Wu Jing'an, Bai Yansong and others joined forces on the stage, as actors, poets and hosts, they collectively thanked the audience for choosing such a performance that was not "entertaining".
The first half focuses on classic poetry, while the second half focuses on drama, culminating in a symphony of poetry and drama. Pu Ge said: From a utilitarian point of view, literature and culture may be "useless learning", but it can "dominate people's tastes", "when we can independently dominate our own aesthetic choices and value choices, the light of beauty can illuminate the heart".
It is said that this is a performance full of "Xin", which reflects Pu Cunxin's intentions and planning everywhere. The long-unknown poet Index Finger was invited to the scene, and he and Pu Ge performed their classic masterpieces hand in hand. For Pu Ge, the poet's index finger may be in a sense the "male god" of his zhiqing era. And Pu Ge's worship comes largely from the song "Believe in the Future". In the days that followed, he read the long poem "Fish Trilogy" in the selection of index finger poems, and Pu Ge said that it was a tribute to the sadness of life, and the fish was unwilling, but it was eager for life to die with the ice cubes, and this noble character was touching and resonant.
Earlier, Pu Ge had gone to Mr. Index Finger's house for a rehearsal (it was a very ordinary building without an elevator on the outskirts of Beijing), and learned that the 74-year-old poet Index Finger was still working. He said that when Mr. Index Finger sat on the opposite pony to read poems to him, he was very moved, "We actors pay more attention to the expression of poetic emotions when reading poems, but poets read poems is another realm..." That night, Mr. Index Finger, who has gray hair and a red shirt, slowly walked onto the stage, and between the applause, he and Pu Ge recited his long poem "Fish Trilogy" together.
Huang Hong still brought the classic narrative long poem "The Barber". Wu Jing'an's "Father's Love" is his classic, and he sincerely reproduces the wordless father's father's father's unspoken father's love in the penguin in -40 degrees Celsius in Antarctica.
In the second half of the performance, the poetry scrolls floating on the stage quietly closed and replaced by a lampstand representing the sense of drama. Pu Ge brought a clip of "King Lear", and on the stage, he transformed into the mournful and desperate King Lear, and launched a helpless and weak "Heavenly Question" full of anger and curses with a thick voice.
Also written by Shakespeare, the drama "Othello" is performed by the all-girls class of the famous Shanghai director Chen Liyi. It is reported that in order to more accurately shape the character shape and demeanor of male characters, the actors have undergone nearly two months of repeated speculation and hard training.
The other two theatrical works are the fragment of "Shangganling" brought by Huang Hong and his daughter, and the fragment of "The Star on the Plain" performed by Wu Jing'an and his children. At the end of the performance, all the actors and the audience recited Mr. Index Finger's song "Believe in the Future" together, praying that everything would be well in 2022.
