As of 11 a.m. on January 2, the accident had killed eight people and killed one firefighter in the line of duty. Five people suffered minor injuries. Xiao Liang told reporters that at the time of the incident, he originally planned to take the elevator to the 2nd floor, but due to the busy shopping mall at that time, he did not wait for the elevator for a long time, so he chose to go up to the 2nd floor through the escalator. At that time, there was an elevator that stayed on the second basement floor, and the sound of moving goods was constantly heard.

After about 3 minutes, Xiao Liang was about to climb the escalator, found that there was smoke in the air, heard someone near the aquatic area saying that the second underground floor was on fire, and he had just run up from below. Xiao Liang didn't pay much attention at that time and continued to the 2nd floor. Soon, a firefighter came to the 2nd floor to inform the merchants of the fire, and at the same time, the mall issued a radio demanding that all personnel be evacuated, and he followed the instructions and left the mall.
During the evacuation, Xiao Liang learned that a merchant had lost contact with her husband and two workers in the store, and had been unable to call her husband. There was a weak grandmother, probably a family member of a merchant, who was also in the market at the time, was injured in an accident, and was quickly picked up by ambulance after leaving the mall with the help of others.

After the news of the fire came out, some netizens left a message saying that there was a cold storage on the second basement floor of the mall, and there were workers welding shelves before the incident, and there were many resin foam materials on the cold storage wall that would produce toxic gases after combustion.
In this regard, Xiao Liang said that before the incident, there were indeed workers on the second basement floor welding racks, but not in the cold storage, but in another compartment, some distance from the cold storage, separated from the place where the packaging foam boxes were stacked, separated by a wall, and there was not much debris around.
