After the 9/18 incident, the situation in China became worse and worse, and both soldiers and ordinary people, including young students, became aware of this change. The students were the most fleshy group, and seeing that the Nanjing government at that time refused to resist Japan, they were all angry, so the students of Peking University formed a team and went to the door of the government to demand the recovery of the three eastern provinces. This movement is also known as the "Southward Movement".
These students can basically be divided into two groups, one is more moderate and the other is more radical. And it was the more radical faction that hit Cai Yuanpei. The original intention of the students is very simple, just to express their patriotic enthusiasm through parades and safeguard the sovereignty of the country. However, the gathering of a large group of people is very eye-catching in itself, plus there have been students arrested before, everyone's nerves are tense, and the scene may explode if they are not careful.
At that time, a female student named Xue Xun, who was in the lead, came to the door of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but at that time, I did not know why, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not open the door. The students thought for a moment and then came to the door of the party headquarters to continue the parade.
In the end, their march alarmed the government at the time, and the Nanjing government quickly sent people to negotiate with the students, one of whom was Cai Yuanpei and the other was a commander.

When the two of them came to the students, Xue Xun led the students to quickly ask questions, mainly: Why the Nationalist government was indifferent in the face of aggression

At that time, the Chiang government was still uncertain about the confrontation, and the commander could not answer these questions head-on, and the answers were not accepted by the students. However, when Cai Yuanpei stood up, the students were still more willing to listen to this respectable teacher.
At this time, Cai Yuanpei said that he hoped that the students would not delay their studies because of the parade, nor would they do anything irrational because of the momentary indignation like the previous student movement.
Cai Yuanpei himself was kind, because under the fierce contradictions at that time, if the students were so excited again, it was likely to cause disaster. However, it was precisely because the situation was fierce at that time that Cai Yuanpei's words were easily misunderstood as other meanings.
So in the confusion of the students, the conflict occurred. The commander bore the brunt of it and was knocked unconscious by the students with sticks. And Xue Xun rushed to Cai Yuanpei and gave him a slap.
Afterwards, thirteen students were arrested by the police, including Xue Xun, who beat Cai Yuanpei. At that time, the Chiang government wanted to deal with this matter seriously. However, because of the great pressure of public opinion at home and abroad at that time, and the two principals, Yu Youren and Cai Yuanpei, tried their best to intercede for the students, and these students were released.
Afterwards, Cai Yuanpei did not blame Xue Xun, but believed that he did not teach the students well, so that they used these rough means.
After Xue Xun and others were released, they also grew a lot, and later Xue Xun did a lot of things.
The birth of revolutionaries
In fact, before this parade, Xue Xun had already joined the Communist Youth League. She is a northerner, with a bold personality, boldness, and advanced thinking. However, this personality also often brings a big drawback, that is, it is easy to be impulsive. This was also one of the reasons why she hit Cai Yuanpei at that time. When she was released from prison, she was soon reintroduced in revolutionary activities.
Xue Xun did propaganda work for a long time, and later transferred to Shanghai and Jinan, becoming an underground worker. In 1933, a traitor betrayed her, but no matter what the enemy did to her, she did not give in, and torture failed to get information out of her mouth. In this way, Xue Xun worked in the party until the founding of the country.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, she also served as the deputy secretary of the Hebei Provincial Party Committee and other positions, she was very clean and honest for the officials, and she has always cared for the people, done a lot of good things, and solved many people's livelihood problems.
