In early 1952, on the Korean battlefield, China and north Korea and the United Nations army engaged in a strategic stalemate, the two sides talked and fought, and in July, the volunteer army smashed the enemy's summer offensive, and the United Nations army led by the American army was not satisfied and began to invade the north.
The 391 Heights between Binh Kang and Jinhua seriously threatened the defensive security of the Volunteer Army.
In late September, the volunteer army launched a tactical counterattack, and Qiu Shaoyun's 87th Regiment of the 29th Division of the 15th Army came to the front line, and he was in the 3rd Battalion, 9th Company, 1 Platoon, 3rd Platoon.
The volunteers decided to start the Battle of Shangganling, and to win the battle, they had to blow up the Kangping Bridge, which was necessary for the enemy to reinforce, and to blow up the Kangping Bridge, they had to take The 391 Heights, and the enemy obviously recognized this, and they sent a reinforced company to guard the 391 Heights.

Before the war, Qiu Shaoyun wrote a blood letter to his superiors requesting to join the war, not only that, he also wrote an application to join the party, and after being approved to participate in the war, Qiu Shaoyun said: "Please test me organizationally, if I die in battle, I only hope that the party will recognize me as a communist." ”

But in this way, we will be detected by the enemy sentries on the hill, then not only will our squad die here on the spot, nor will the entire latent troops lurking behind us suffer serious losses, but more importantly, the battle plan we have prepared for a long time will be completely frustrated...
The fire burned on my comrades for more than half an hour before it was gradually extinguished. This great warrior did not utter even the slightest groan until his last breath before his sacrifice. He lay motionless like a jack-of-a-thousand-pound boulder on the ground. For the sake of the lives of all my comrades-in-arms and the victory of the battle, my comrade-in-arms Qiu Shaoyun overcame the test of the fire and made himself a hero. ”
The situation of Qiu Shaoyun's sacrifice was clearly seen in the battle, everyone watched his sacrifice with their own eyes, and their hearts were full of grief, and after the battle began, everyone rushed forward desperately to avenge Qiu Shaoyun.
After the battle, the instructor Wang Mingshi saw Qiu Shaoyun's charred body and said sadly, "Qiu Shaoyun, good look, our Fire King Kong." ”
Subsequently, he took off his clothes to wrap Qiu Shaoyun's body, and his comrades carried his body to the regimental rescue center, where he was buried nearby.
Half a month later, the troops selected those who had made meritorious contributions in combat, and Li Yuanxing and Li Shihu, comrades-in-arms in the same demolition group as Qiu Shaoyun, were awarded special merit, second-class combat heroes, and first-class merit respectively.
The regiment gave Qiu Shaoyun a third-class merit, and the division gave Qiu Shaoyun a second-class merit.
When the 15th Army Headquarters held a celebration meeting, instructor Wang Mingshi told about Qiu Shaoyun's heroic deeds; cao Peng, a reporter for the military newspaper, Zheng Dafan, Lu Zhuguo, and other reporters of the Battlefield Daily, were touched by Qiu Shaoyun's choice after hearing this, and they believed that Qiu Shaoyun's spirit of self-sacrifice was very great and should be publicized more.

On June 10, 1953, the Volunteer Army Headquarters considered Qiu Shaoyun's spirit to be very precious, so it posthumously awarded him a first-class combat hero and posthumously honored him with special merit.
In early 1953, when Qiu Shaohua was planting seedlings at home, a villager told him a message: "Your family Qiu Shaoyun has died in Korea. ”

In 2015, Qiu Shaoyun's younger brother Qiu Shaohua, who was 85 years old, and officers and men of the Chongqing Armed Police Corps came to the Qiu Shaoyun Martyrs Memorial Hall, where he fondly remembered his brother.
In the same year, Qiu Shaohua knew that someone had slandered his brother's reputation and questioned Qiu Shaoyun's deeds, he was very excited, and then he and his family took this person to court, after more than a year of long waiting, the court finally announced the verdict, this person lost the case, and wanted to apologize publicly.
Qiu Shaohua, who was 86 years old, heard this result from his hospital bed, and he was very relieved, and on October 20, Qiu Shaohua died of illness.
