On January 1, 2022, Watermelon Video will launch a 4K restored version of 8 old animations of "Journey to the West", "The Legend of Jigong", "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea", "Nuwa Patching Heaven", "Hulu Little King Kong", "The Story of Avanti", "The Story of Chinese Diligence", and "The Story of Traditional Chinese Virtues".

It is reported that the restoration of these old cartoons is supported by the volcano engine. Old cartoons use film as the storage medium, and there will be problems such as fading, scratches, and noise due to the passage of time.

In the process of restoration, the Volcano Engine team relied on the Volcano Engine "Intelligent Processing" toolkit to achieve the effect of enhancing video quality through algorithms such as super resolution, intelligent interpolation, color enhancement, noise reduction, etc., and assisted in manual repair, and finally let the old film "change its old appearance" and present it to the audience with better picture quality and higher clarity.

"Hulu Little Kong" is one of the classic animation works in China, which is the sequel to "Hulu Brothers" and has been filmed for 20 years. On October 20, 2021, Watermelon Video, together with Volcano Engine, CCTV Animation Group and Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio, launched the classic China Video 4K restoration plan. The goal of the plan is to restore 100 classic animations such as "Shuk and Beta" and "Journey to the West" within one year.

At that time, the 4K version of six animations such as "Hulu Brothers" and "Black Cat Sheriff" had been launched on watermelon video.
