Unconsciously, new century literature has gone through a twenty-year process.
On the last day of 2021, the final list of the selection activity "20 Literature in the Twentieth Year of the New Century" co-sponsored by two literary magazines, Zhong Shan and Yangtze River Literary Review, announced the final list. The list is divided into four categories, namely "20 young writers in the 20 years of the new century", "20 young poets in the 20 years of the new century", "20 novels in the 20 years of the new century", and "20 non-fiction works in the 20 years of the new century". Among them, "young writers" and "young poets" are limited to those born after 1970, and novels and non-fiction works are limited to works that were first published/published in 2000-2020.
In this selection, the organizers also launched the "Expert Selection" and "Reader Selection" two parties selection. Dozens of critics, writers, editors, and publishers nominated to draw the shortlist, followed by an open reader's online voting and invitations to more than a dozen well-known experts in the literary world to make final evaluations. Experts and readers separately select the 20 young writers, 20 young poets, the best 20 novels and 20 non-fiction literary works that they believe to have the most outstanding achievements in the twenty years of new century literature.

First of all, there are "20 young writers", and there are 14 "overlaps" between the expert list and the reader list: Yi Zhou, Shuang Xuetao, Shi Yifeng, Tian Er, Sun Pin, Li Xiuwen, Zhang Chu, Zhang Yueran, Ah Yi, Xu Zechen, Liang Hong, Ge Liang, Lu Min, and Lu Nei.
In the other 6, the expert list includes Fu Xiuying, Li Hao, Jin Renshun, Huang Xiaoyang, Huang Yongmei, wei Wei, and the reader list is Ma Boyong, Wang Zhanhei, Qiao Ye, Li Juan, Ban Yu, and Di An.
The "20 Young Poets" have 14 "overlapping" lists: Ma Yan, Wang Ao, Yin Lichuan, Feng Na, Duo Yu, Jiang Fei, Wu Ang, Yang Biwei, Yu Xiuhua, Shen Haobo, Zhang Ergun, Zheng Xiaoqiong, Hu Sang, and Huang Libao.
In addition, there are 6 experts on the list of Yu Xiang, Yu Bang, Zhu Xuan, Hu Xudong, Jiang Tao, sentinel, and wang Dandan, Yuzhen, Ye Lijun, Liu Chuan, Xiao Shui, and Xiong Yan on the reader list.
