Although BMW just brought a small revamped version of the X3 in June 2021, it did not expect that the news about the new generation of models had already come out. According to the recent report of foreign media BMW Blog, the new generation (4th generation) X3 will be developed under the chassis code of G45, which will be released as soon as the summer of 2024; as to whether the new generation of X3 will be based on the current CLAR chassis platform, or will be replaced by bmw's new pure electric platform development of Neue Klasse, which is expected to come out in 2025, it will be worth continuing to pay attention to.
In October 2021, BMW expects to launch the news of Neue Klasse's new pure electric platform in 2025. According to the claim at the time, the first model developed using this platform will be the next generation of 3 Series, and it will be a pure electric 3 Series codenamed NK1. Therefore, compared with this news and the mass production time point of 2024, the probability of the next-generation X3 continuing the CLAR chassis platform configuration should still be relatively high.
However, this does not mean that the X3 is completely isolated from the Neue Klasse platform. In fact, the current iX3, or X3-only, version of X3 will also be the year of generational change in 2025, so it is indeed possible that X3 and iX3 will be built on different platforms. However, if BMW does eventually adopt this "two-track" approach to create a new generation of X3, then it can also be speculated that if the X3 is to achieve full electrification of the car series, it may have to wait until 2030, that is, after the next generation of G45.
