It is worth mentioning that due to technical flaws that increase the risk of accidents, Tesla also plans to recall 475,000 vehicles in the United States, which is close to its global delivery last year.

Tesla notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ("NHTSA") that it plans to recall all Model 3s — 356309 produced between 2017 and 2020 , and opening and closing the trunk may damage the cables connected to the rearview camera, resulting in the inability to display images.

NHTSA posted on its website on Thursday local time that Tesla will also recall 119009 Model S produced since 2014 because the defective latching component will cause the trunk to open unexpectedly, affecting the driver's vision and increasing the risk of collision. Tesla said it would repair the two defects for affected users free of charge and did not receive reports of accidents caused by the two defects.

While the scope of this recall is quite large for Tesla, it is common in the automotive industry. According to consultancy Stout, the 2020 automotive industry recalls involved more than 300 models and about 28 million vehicles.
