But do new energy vehicles really reduce carbon? Under the dual carbon target, electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles should develop in parallel, and the carbon reduction value of hybrid power should not be ignored because the development momentum of electric vehicles is good.

Moreover, at this stage, compared with pure electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles have obvious advantages over fuel vehicles. Because it does not need to install charging infrastructure, the user's driving habits do not change much, there is no mileage anxiety, and the power reliability is strong under extreme conditions such as high temperature and high cold, which can meet the needs of users in different regions.

At a time when traditional fuel vehicles still dominate the market, exploring a variety of technical routes is conducive to the early realization of the dual-carbon goal of the automotive industry. Hybrid is by no means a transitional technology, but an indispensable technology route for the automotive industry to achieve its goal of carbon neutrality.

At present, GAC, BYD, Changan, Geely, Chery, SAIC, Dongfeng and other car companies have launched their own hybrid technology routes to accelerate the layout of hybrid technology and products.

On December 12 this year, GAC Trumpchi's new second-generation GS8 was listed, priced at 186,800-246,800 yuan. The new car launched two power options, the Pilot Series and the Dual Engine Series, of which the Twin Engine Series is the first Chinese brand model equipped with Toyota THS Hybrid Technology, opening a new era of Trumpchi Hybrid.

Two hybrid paths go hand in hand

On November 19, at the Guangzhou Auto Show, GAC Group announced the "Green Net Plan" carbon neutrality target: "GAC Group promises to achieve carbon neutrality of the whole life cycle of its products by 2050 (challenge 2045). ”

In response to the "Green Net Plan", GAC Trumpchi released the development strategy of "hybridization + intelligence" dual-core drive, with the goal of achieving hybridization of all models in 2025, with hybrid sales accounting for more than 60% in 2030, challenging to achieve carbon neutrality in 2045.

In addition to accelerating the launch of hybrid models, GAC Trumpchi will also focus on building carbon neutral factories, introducing green electricity and super photovoltaic power generation systems, aiming at zero carbon, and realizing the digitization, intelligence and low carbonization of the whole industry chain.

GAC Trumpchi aims to build the strongest hybrid technology platform in China based on GAC Julang Power. Through open cooperation and independent research and development, GAC Trumpchi has two sets of industry-leading hybrid systems.

A set of GAC 2.0ATK engine and GAC GMC2.0 hybrid system is combined, the engine has a maximum thermal efficiency of 42.1%, and a thermal efficiency utilization rate of up to 95.5%. GAC has independently developed GMC electromechanical coupling hybrid system, which is compatible with hybrid and plug-in hybrids, and GAC has complete independent intellectual property rights.

Toyota THS Hybrid System has more than 20 years of technical accumulation, after four iterations, deeply rooted in the essence of hybrid technology. It is a generator, drive motor, planetary gear mechanism, P-gear parking mechanism, mechanical pump, etc. highly integrated in one, the whole system structure is simple, small size, light weight, power control unit power density and efficiency is higher than the same type of products.

With the blessing of multiple technologies, the THS system can reasonably control the distribution of fuel power and electric power, so that the power system always runs in the efficient range, and realizes both fuel consumption and power.

Vehicles equipped with Toyota's THS system have sold more than 18 million vehicles worldwide, and their total battery is equivalent to about 260,000 pure electric vehicles, but the CO2 emission reduction effect is equivalent to about 5.5 million pure electric vehicles.

On the one hand, GAC independently developed a hybrid system with GMC as the core, and on the other hand, through a strong alliance with Toyota, GAC Trumpchi became the first Chinese brand equipped with Toyota's hybrid system THS. Set a new benchmark for medium and large luxury SUVs

As the first landing model of GAC Trumpchi's "hybrid + intelligent" dual-core drive development strategy, the new second-generation GS8 is based on core technologies such as GPMA architecture, Julang Power, ADiGO intelligent driving interconnection ecosystem, and Juxing chassis, and is the culmination of GAC Trumpchi.

GAC Trumpchi is the first Chinese car company to obtain the official authorization of Toyota Dual Engine, and the new second-generation GS8 hybrid version of the model has also been named "Dual Engine Series".

The high-efficiency 2.0TM engine is the third-generation Miller cycle engine independently developed by GAC Motor, which adopts advanced technologies such as GACIC GCCS combustion control technology, Miller cycle, 350bar high-pressure direct injection system, etc., with a maximum power of 140kW, a maximum torque of 320N m, and a maximum thermal efficiency of 40.23%, leading the same level.

According to the "Energy-saving and New Energy Vehicle Technology Roadmap 2.0" issued by the Society of Automotive Engineers of China, it is expected that by 2035, China's new energy vehicles will account for more than 50% of total sales, energy-saving vehicles will account for nearly 50%, and traditional energy-powered passenger cars will all be hybrid.
