Zhang Zhenhan was born in 1893 in the countryside of Xuzhou. After graduating from the Baoding Military Academy, Zhang Zhenhan's career development was very smooth, and after seven or eight years, he developed from a company commander of the Feng army to a lieutenant general of the Nationalist army, and it is worth mentioning that the 41st Division led by him was also the main division of the 10th Army, which shows Zhang Zhenhan's status and ability in the Nationalist army.

It was this opportunity that he met his wife Deng Juexian, who accompanied him all his life.
Although Deng Juexian was born into a wealthy family, he has a wide range of interests and is particularly fond of various sports, especially volleyball. Deng Juexian, who is tall and beautiful in appearance, can always attract the attention of the opposite sex as long as he appears on the sports field. At that time, the women's volleyball team led by Deng Juexian won the championship, she took the stage as the captain to receive the award, and at the moment when Zhang Zhenhan handed the trophy to Deng Juexian, she was attracted by the special temperament of the other party.
After the games, Zhang Zhenhan asked people about each other's background and went to the door many times to propose to him. The only lieutenant general in the Nationalist army to participate in the Long March
In June 1935, Xuan'en in Hubei was surrounded by officers and men of the Red Sixth Army, and after sending out rescue, Zhang Zhenhan was ordered to lead the 41st Division to help. However, at this time, Zhang Zhenhan did not know that the secret telegrams between the 41st Division and Wuhan had been deciphered by the Red Army, and He Laozong and Ren Bishi quickly made adjustments and arranged for a small number of troops to pretend to attack Xuan'en City and ambush the main force on the only way for the 41st Division.
The 41st Division in the ambush was cut into several sections by the Red Army, each of which was broken, and during the battle, the Mortar of the Red Army hit Zhang Zhenhan's division headquarters, the radio was destroyed, the chief of staff of the division was also killed on the spot, and the wounded Zhang Zhenhan became a prisoner of the Red Army. As soon as the division headquarters was breached, the officers and men of the 41st Division were distracted and were eventually completely annihilated by our army, and the Red Army won a great victory in this battle.

In November 1935, Zhang Zhenhan participated in the Long March with the Red 26th Army, and was given high treatment during the expedition, giving him mules and grooms, which was only available to senior commanders and fighters of the Red Army at that time. During the journey, Zhang Zhenhan had integrated into the group and regarded himself as part of the Red Army.

Speaking of Zhang Zhenhan's wife, Deng Juexian, when she heard that her husband had been captured, she wept bitterly. Relatives and friends around her said that Zhang Zhenhan could not come back this time, and advised her to make other plans. But Deng Juexian, who loved her husband deeply, refused to remarry until more than a year later, when she received a handwritten letter from the Red Army that passed on her Zhang Zhenhan through secret channels.
She was ecstatic to learn that her husband was still alive. In the letter, Zhang Zhenhan said that the Red Army was in short supply and hoped that she could do her best to support it. Deng Juexian then sold his property, and also asked for a sum of money from his mother's family to buy medicines, telescopes, compasses and other materials that the Red Army urgently needed.
After the things were prepared, she learned of the whereabouts of the Red Army through her husband's classmate He Jian, hired a group of people to escort them, and finally delivered the supplies to the Red Army. Later, she also traveled thousands of miles to Yan'an, where she finally met her husband who had been separated for several years, and the two of them met, hugging their headaches and crying, and everyone present in the touching scene shed tears.
After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Kuomintang and the Communists cooperated again, and Zhang Zhenhan returned to the Kuomintang area. Zhang Zhenhan, who had participated in the Long March, did not want to participate in the civil war, so he resigned from all his posts and accompanied his wife back to Changsha to live a leisurely life. With the change of the domestic situation, Zhang Zhenhan judged the hour and sized up the situation, and with his efforts, he promoted the uprising of the officers and men of the Changsha Nationalist Army and made great contributions to the cause of liberation.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhang Zhenhan remained in Changsha, serving as vice mayor of Changsha and many years later was elected as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Zhang Zhenhan died in Beijing on May 26, 1967.
