Zhang Zhenhan graduated from the third phase of the artillery section of the Baoding Military Academy, and Was a classmate of Bai Chongxi, Zhang Zhizhong, and He Jian, followed Xu Shuzheng in his early years, and later joined the National Revolutionary Army of the Northern Expedition, serving as the commander of the 283rd Regiment of the 48th Division, but he was a Baoding student after all, and his classmates had a career at this time, relying on these connections, in 1931 he became the commander of the 41st Division and was awarded the rank of lieutenant general.
In 1935, he led his troops to participate in the "encirclement and suppression" of the Qiansu District of Xiang'echuan, and he did not know much about the Red Army, and he was proud of his strong troops and well-equipped equipment, and once boasted that he would go down to Haikou: "I want to personally capture Boss He."
As the saying goes, the proud soldiers must be defeated, when Xuan'en was besieged, Zhang Zhenhan was ordered to rush to the aid, but did not want the Red Army to have already deciphered the telegram, and was preparing to encircle the point to help, after the 41st Division entered the ambush circle, it was beaten by the Red Army, not only the 41st Division was completely annihilated, but even the division commander Zhang Zhenhan was also captured.
Zhang Zhenhan never expected that he who had boasted about Haikou was now a prisoner of Boss He.
The news of Zhang Zhenhan's capture soon spread to Hankou, everyone thought that Master Zhang would undoubtedly die this time, and some well-meaning people persuaded his wife Deng Jue to remarry first, although the age difference between the two was 18 years old, but the feelings after marriage have been very good, and Deng Juexian's kindness to them has been rejected.
In fact, Zhang Zhenhan, who became a prisoner of war at this time, also thought that he was dead, but he did not expect that the Red Army did not kill him, but also treated him, and opened a small stove in his life, and after he recovered from his injuries, he invited him to come to the Red Army school as a teacher, and on the first day of standing on the podium, he saw that many senior generals of the Red Army were listening under the stage, and he was very excited and very pleased to be able to gain the trust of the Red Army.
Soon he became one of the best instructors in the Red Army school.
When the Red Second and Sixth Armies began the Long March, they also assigned him a mule as a mount, which was a treatment that only high-ranking generals could enjoy at that time, but when crossing the Jade Dragon Mountain, Zhang Zhenhan fell off the cliff because the mule lost its hoof, or the Red Army held hands and chained him to rescue him.

After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Zhang Zhenhan and his wife returned to the Kuomintang area and made great contributions to the anti-Japanese national united front, in 1949 Zhang Zhenhan participated in the Hunan Uprising, returned to the embrace of the people, served as the vice mayor of Changsha after the founding of the People's Republic of China, and later served as a member of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and died of illness in Beijing in 1967.
