During the Republic of China period, many people were given some specific titles, and these titles represented the characteristics of these people. For example, Bai Chongxi's title is called "Little Zhuge Ge", which expresses his wisdom, and Qiu Qingquan's title is called "Qiu Crazy", which means that he is simply deadly when he fights. And there is such a person whose title sounds a little more prestigious than others, this person's name is Sun Yuanliang, his nickname is actually the same as Li Guang of the Han Dynasty, his nickname is "Flying General", so if you hear it, do you think that Sun Yuanliang is a fierce general?
But don't be deceived by this title of Sun Yuanliang, he is not a fierce general in the world, nor is he a courtier who looks at the overall situation, he is just an ordinary Kuomintang general. So Sun Yuanliang's first article is not outstanding, and the second martial arts are not outstanding, how on earth is he called "Flying General"? It all comes down to one of his housekeeping skills, which is escape. Sun Yuanliang was born in Huayang, Chengdu, but his hometown is in Shaoxing, Zhejiang.
In 1924, he was admitted to the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy and became a student of the Whampoa Military Academy at that time. When he was in school, he was greatly valued and appreciated by Chiang Kai-shek. Because he was dignified and his father was a Zhixian in the late Qing Dynasty, he carried a gentle and elegant demeanor from an early age, and it was this demeanor that confused Chiang Kai-shek's eyes and made him feel that Sun Yuanliang was a pillar of strength. But when he went to the battlefield, Chiang Kai-shek regretted that he wanted to cut out his eyes.
Because Sun Yuanliang's performance was so disappointing, in 1926, Chiang Kai-shek sent his own concubine troops, the 1st Division of the 1st Army and the 3rd Army, to assemble Sun Chuanfang in the Northern Expedition. At that time, Sun Yuanliang was the commander of the 1st Regiment of the 1st Division. The big guys saw how good Chiang Kai-shek was to Sun Yuanliang and put him in his own concubine unit for training. But what did Sun Yuanliang do? He was leading his troops to garrison Niuhang Station.
In fact, there was not much danger in garrisoning in this position, and Sun Yuanliang only needed to be responsible for resisting the enemy's sneak attack. But when the enemy's battle horn blew up, Sun Yuanliang suddenly fell silent, and he quickly got into the car and ran. Sun Yuanliang's move made the soldiers under his command stunned, they did not react to what their commander was going to do? But when the enemy came, they understood that the surname Sun had run away.
Unable to organize effective resistance, Sun Yuanliang's soldiers of the 1st Regiment were scattered by Sun Chuanfang's men. After Cheng Qian learned the news of Sun Yuanliang's escape from among the soldiers who had escaped, it was called a gas. You said that if the enemy's firepower is too fierce and loses, it can be regarded as losing face, but what is it called to run away before it is fought? It is called fleeing without a fight, this is going to court-martial.
However, Cheng Qian, who may have taken into account that Sun Yuanliang was a very important person for Chiang Kai-shek, did not say anything about punishing Sun Yuanliang. Instead, he was sent to garrison Fengxin, giving him a chance to break his sins. But Sun Yuanliang was so arrogant and delicate, dead or alive, he didn't go, and he withdrew all the way to the west. This next journey could not bear it and directly reported it to Chiang Kai-shek. After Chiang Kai-shek knew that, it was called a regret, and he went directly to Fengxin to find Sun Yuanliang. Looking for Sun Yuanliang, of course, it was to shoot him, to tell the truth, if someone had not interceded, Sun Yuanliang would have died a long time ago.
Chiang Kai-shek thought about it and decided to let Sun Yuanliang go to the Japanese Artillery School for gilded training to see if he could grow a little bloody.
It's just that the mud can't hold up the wall after all. In 1937, the Songhu Campaign broke out, and in this battle, the 88th Division led by Sun Yuanliang performed well and fought extremely well with the Japanese army. Only at such a tense juncture, Sun Yuanliang also embezzled the 260,000 yuan of defense workers paid to him by the Nationalist government. He put the money into his own pocket and made the fortifications full of fakes. As a result, the Japanese army broke the 88th Division, and Sun Yuanliang ran away again.
On December 12, 1937, the Japanese army concentrated its fire to attack the Zhonghua Gate, Sun Yuanliang saw this battle, his legs and stomach were weak, and he wanted to run with his troops. If it were not for Song Xilian holding a machine gun to "dissuade" him and let him continue to hold the defensive line, this surname Sun would have disappeared long ago. Later, Sun Yuanliang learned to be obedient, he let the troops cooperate with Song Xilian's battle, and he secretly hid in the Nanjing Outer Pavilion by himself, and then took advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention and directly hid in a green building.
He also bribed the bustard with gold bars to prevent him from revealing his whereabouts. After this incident, the entire Republic of China knew Sun Yuanliang's name. A dignified general, however, avoided the battle and fled to the Qinglou, which was really humiliating. Then some people called Sun Yuanliang zhen a "flying general", and this escape technique was almost like inserting wings. Later, Sun Yuanliang brazenly wrote in his memoirs that he was forced to do so, and said that he was thinking about the overall situation. I really don't know if Li Guangquan knew that his name as "Flying General" had been insulted by such a person, he would have jumped out angrily and strangled Sun Yuanliang.
