The wise man hesitates, and the fool repents

Original

Yan Zi said: "The fool regrets much, the unworthy one is self-virtuous, the drowning person does not ask for the fall, and the fan does not ask for the way." Drowning and then asking for the fall, lost and then asking for directions, for example, in the face of difficulties and casting soldiers, choking and digging wells, although fast, there is no time. ”

The wise man hesitates, and the fool repents

New interpretation of ancient sentences

Yan Zi said: "Stupid people regret a lot, talentless people always think that they are capable, people who are flooded are because they don't ask about the depth of the water, and people who get lost are because they don't ask for directions." When you fall into the water and drown, you ask about the depth of the water, and you get lost for a long time before you ask for directions, which is like the war that began to rush to build weapons, and when you choked on eating, you hurriedly dug a well to find water to drink, even if the speed is fast, it is already too late. ”

All remorse is because things that were not expected in advance have happened, things that are not expected have occurred, and things that are self-righteous have been punished. At present, there must be preparation, investigation, anticipation and remedial solution. "Everything is predetermined, and if it is not predetermined, it will be abolished", "People have no far-reaching worries, they will have near-term worries", "If they have no master, they will be trapped, and if they are not prepared, they will be wasted." The prophets have taught us too much, but the things that are lost without asking for the way, and the things that fall and drown without asking for water still occur from time to time, and the reason is self-righteousness. The self-righteous will be foolish, and the foolish will repent.

The sense of distress emphasizes the importance of prevention and Liu Bei. For the "unpredictable" people, the disaster is a terrible strange army, and its sudden arrival can often lead to the demise of a country and the sudden failure of an enterprise. In an unfavorable environment, prevention and preparation are taken for granted, and in an unfavorable environment, prevention and preparation are even more indispensable. The same is true of doing things as people. Only by thinking of danger in times of peace and taking precautions can we prevent problems before they occur and calmly deal with them when disasters suddenly appear.

There is such a parable. A wild wolf was lying on the grass grinding its teeth diligently, and when the fox saw it, he said to it, "The weather is so good, everyone is resting and entertaining, you should join our team!" The wolf did not speak, and continued to grind his teeth, grinding his teeth sharp and sharp. The fox asked strangely, "The forest is so quiet, the hunters and hounds have already returned home, the tigers are not hovering nearby, and there is no danger, so why do you grind your teeth so hard?" The wolf stopped and replied, "I'm not grinding my teeth for entertainment, you think, if one day I'm chased by a hunter or a tiger, by then I think it's too late to grind my teeth." Usually, I grind my teeth well, and then I can protect myself. ”

The truth of the parable is familiar to most people, but very little is really done. "When the book is used, there is less hatred", if you do not enrich your learning, it is too late to temporarily hold the Buddha's feet. Some people also complain that there is no opportunity, but when the opportunity comes, they lament that they usually do not have enough knowledge and ability to be incompetent, and they can only regret it.

The five things of "degree, quantity, number, weighing, and winning" are the strategic contents of the pre-war plan. Most ancient Chinese military experts believed: "All five are derived from the terrain, so they are born from the ground." "That is, according to the land area and terrain characteristics of the country and the battlefield, we can estimate the population and soldiers, and then calculate the real estate and materials; Thus weighing military might; Finally, we should comprehensively judge the military strength of the enemy and us and decide on the plan for winning the war.

During the Eastern Han Dynasty, Cao Cao appointed Xiahou Huan as the governor, Yu Ban, Li Dian, Xiahou Lan, and Han Hao as deputy generals, leading 100,000 troops, and went to Bowangpo to see the opportunity.

At that time, Zhuge Liang was recruiting militiamen, and 3,000 people had been recruited, and Zhuge Liang taught them to practice the formation from morning to night. The soldiers suddenly came to report that Cao Cao sent Xiahou Huan to lead 100,000 soldiers to kill Ben Xinye. Liu Bei hurriedly asked Zhuge Liang to discuss countermeasures. Zhuge Liang was afraid that the generals would not obey the orders, so he borrowed the seal sword from Liu Bei, and then gathered the generals to pass on the orders.

Zhuge Liang said: "There is a mountain on the left side of Bowangpo, called Yushan; On the right, there is a forest called Anlin, and these two places can ambush military horses. Commander Yun can take 1,000 soldiers to Yushan to ambush, wait for the enemy to arrive, let them go, and don't fight; Their heavy grain and grass must be in the back, only to see the fire in the south, and then let the soldiers attack and burn their grain and grass. Yi De led 1,000 soldiers to the valley behind Anlin to ambush, as long as they saw the fire in the south, they could attack and set fire to the old grain depot in Bowang City. Guan Ping and Liu Feng led 500 soldiers, prepared supplies for ignition, waited on both sides behind Bowangpo, and set fire to the enemy soldiers as soon as they arrived. Then, Zhuge Liang summoned Zhao Yun from Fancheng and ordered him to be the front, not to win, as long as he lost, and finally asked Liu Bei to lead a team of people and horses as a backup. Zhuge Liang ordered the crowd: "Each must do things according to the plan, and no mistakes are allowed!" Commander Yun said, "We all went out to meet the enemy, but I don't know what the military division is doing?" Zhuge Liang said, "I will sit in the county seat!" Zhang Fei laughed and said, "We all go to fight, but you are sitting idly at home, so feel free!" Zhuge Liang said, "The sword seal is here, and those who disobey the order will kill their heads!" Liu Bei also said: "Haven't you heard of 'in the midst of planning, decisive victory is thousands of miles away'?" Two brothers, can not disobey the order. Zhang Fei sneered and left. Chief Yun said, "We will see that his plan has not been fulfilled, and it is not too late to ask him again!"

When Xiahou Huan led the troops to Bowangpo, he immediately divided half of the elite troops as the front team, and the rest protected the grain trucks to advance. Cao Jun was hurrying when he suddenly saw dust in front of him. Xiahou Huan swung the people and horses away, and asked for clarification that in front of him was Bowangpo and behind him was Luo Chuankou. He asked Yu Ban and Li Dian to hold the rear line, personally rode out to the front, and when he looked at the enemy army, he laughed and said, "I laughed at Xu Yuanzhi in front of Xiang Xiang and praised Zhuge Liang as a god; Now look at him using soldiers, using such military horses to fight against me, it is like driving dogs and sheep to fight with tigers and leopards! I boasted in front of the prime minister that if I wanted to capture Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang alive, I would certainly be able to fulfill my promise today!" Immediately, he rode forward and scolded Zhao Yun: "You follow Liu Bei, just like a lone soul follows a wild ghost!" Zhao Yun was furious and fought, and within a few rounds of fighting, Zhao Yun pretended to be defeated. Xiahou Huan chased after him and ran for more than ten miles, and Zhao Yun returned to his horse to fight again, and after a few rounds, he fled again. Han Hao reminded Xiahou Huan to beware of ambushes, but Xiahou Huan said, "Even if such an enemy army is ambushed on ten sides, what am I afraid of?" He did not heed the dissuasion and continued to pursue Bowangpo. Later, when Liu Bei was confronted with a battle, Xiahou Huan smiled and said, "This is the soldier and horse in ambush!" Tonight, I will not go to Shinno, and I will not give up!" Urging the soldiers forward. Liu Bei and Zhao Yun immediately fled.

By this time it was late, the clouds were thick, and there was no moonlight; The wind has blown strongly during the day, and it is getting stronger and stronger at this time. Xiahou Huan only cared to urge the army to catch up. When Yu Ban and Li Dian rushed to the narrow place, they saw that there were reeds on both sides and were worried about being attacked by fire, so Li Dian immediately asked the rear army to stop advancing, and Yu Ban went to the front army to persuade Xiahou Huan to take more precautions. Who knows, the people and horses went crazy, the rear army could not stop it for a while, Yu Ban rushed to the front army to persuade the governor, at this time to return to the army, it was too late. Before he could finish speaking, there was a loud shout behind him, and a fire was lit, and soon the reeds on both sides were burned. For a time, on all sides, it was all fire; Catching up with the wind again, the fire was fiercer. Cao's soldiers trampled on each other, and countless deaths and injuries were inflicted. Zhao Yun returned to the army to kill him, and Xiahou Huan had to flee with fireworks. When Li Dian saw that the situation was not good, he rushed back to Bowang City, but was stopped by a general, who turned out to be the general Guan Yunchang. The two armies fought in a scuffle, Li Dian took the road and fled, and as soon as Yu Ban saw that all the grain and grass vehicles were burned, he fled from the path. Xiahou Lan and Han Hao came to save the grain and grass and met Zhang Fei. In a few rounds, Zhang Fei stabbed Xiahou Lan to death with one shot, and Han Hao took the road and fled. Killed until dawn, it was really a slaughter of corpses all over the field, and the blood flowed like a river.

Zhuge Liang strategized, burned Bowangpo, defeated the Cao army, and immediately established his prestige in the army, after which Zhang Fei, Guan Yu and others also admired Zhuge Liang.

The five things of "degree, quantity, number, weighing, and winning" are the strategic contents of the pre-war plan. This process of judging military strength is manifested in a comprehensive consideration of the mutually restrictive relationship between "degree, quantity, number, scale, and victory." Zhuge Liang's plan is precisely because the preparation work is done well, so it will be a great victory.

The journey of life starts from the selected direction, what kind of goal there is what kind of life, but it is not enough to have a direction, but also to set goals along this direction and constantly adjust the goal to prevent unplanned or unfavorable "suffering" from suddenly appearing, so that things develop completely according to their own predetermined trajectory.

There is a Western proverb: If you don't know where you're going, you usually can't go anywhere. A stressful and busy life is often easy to get lost and go to the left? Go right? Sometimes, we really need to stop, anticipate, plan, be prepared to move forward, clarify the goal, eliminate hidden dangers, and take fewer detours, so as to achieve the effect of doubling the results with half the effort.

Successful people often say that 80% of their time is reserved for the future. That is, 20% of the time to deal with the urgent things in front of you, and 80% of the time to do those important things that have no benefit for the time being but will be important later. Indeed, take one step and look at three steps. Be prepared and take action, laugh the longest, laugh to the end. This is great wisdom, so that we can always stand in an invincible position. This is exactly what it is: the wise have more hesitations, and the fools regret more.
