Yu (born and died unknown), surnamed Xia, Xia Hou (夏後氏), courtesy name Wen Ming ,安邑; pinyin: Yīồng Zhān zhān zhōng zhān zhān zhàn hī zhān zhà y hù zhān zhàn hù zhān zhān zhāng zhān zhà y hù zhān Yu was the grandson of Emperor Huan, a descendant of the Yellow Emperor, the son of Yu, and his mother was Xiu ji, the daughter of the Youxin clan.
According to legend, Yu was instrumental in governing the Yellow River and was granted by Shun Chan to inherit the throne. With the support of the princes, King Yu officially ascended the throne, with Yangcheng as the capital, Pingyang as the capital (or Anyi or Jinyang), the state name Xia, and the division of Danzhu to Tang, and the division of shang to Yu.
Yu was the first heavenly son of the Xia Dynasty, and later generations also called him Xia Yu, so Xia Yu became a sage emperor who was comparable to Fuxi and the Yellow Emperor in ancient times. Yu's most outstanding feat was the ever-praised management of the flood, the demarcation of Kyushu, and the foundation of the Xia Dynasty. After his death, Yu was buried on Mount Huiji (present-day Shaoxing, Zhejiang), and there are still Yu Temple, Yu Tomb, and Yu Ancestral Hall. From the beginning of Xia Qi, most of the emperors came to Yuling to sacrifice.

The Yin people do not mention the Xia Dynasty and Dayu in the oracle bones, but the descendants clearly record the Xia Dynasty and Dayu, among which there are clouds "gap into Tang, and strict in the imperial office, Pu received the Mandate of Heaven, deleted Xia Si, defeated the Spirit Master, with Shaochen Weifu, Xian has Jiuzhou, and Yu zhi is blocked."
In 2002, archaeologists discovered the "Sui Gong Cup", which is a Western Zhou bronze vessel from the middle of the tenth century BC, on which is inscribed the process and merits of Dayu Zhishui, which is the earliest record of Dayu Zhishui.
