Lingbao City is the westernmost county-level city in Henan Province, under the jurisdiction of Sanmenxia City. To the west and north, it borders Shaanxi and Shanxi respectively, and is a must for the Central Plains and Guanzhong regions. Because it is located at the intersection of the two major cultural regions of the Central Plains and Guanzhong, the junction area of Henan, Shaanxi and Jin, where Lingbao is located, there are many prehistoric historical sites distributed, which is known as the cradle of Chinese national civilization.
Xipo Village in Lingbao City, a small, little-known mountain village, attracted the attention of the Henan Provincial Archaeological Team in 2001. It turned out that a villager found that in his apple orchard, many apple trees always died inexplicably, so he reported the situation to the local garden department, after some investigation, experts suspected that it was a problem of underground soil, so archaeology took over to continue the investigation.
After visiting, the archaeological team found that the phenomenon of fruit trees dying was very common in nearby orchards, and many crops did not grow well. Why do these situations occur, is it that there are ancient tombs buried underground? In order to understand the situation underground, the archaeological team conducted two consecutive explorations around the apple orchard, but found nothing until the third exploration excavation in 2001.
More than a month after the third excavation began, the archaeological team accidentally cleared the site of a large building. After on-site measurements, the area of the building covers an area of 516 square meters. Archaeologists said that this large building belongs to the new era more than 5,000 years ago, and compared with the more than 20 square meters of buildings in the Xi'an Banpo ruins in the same period, it can be called a mansion.
As the excavations progressed, more of the building's astonishing features were revealed, with 96 super columns that made the building look more like a super palace. More than 5,000 years ago, in the Stone Age, it was a huge project to cut down trees with stone axes to build a palace of such a grand scale.
So, who built this huge palace? And who is qualified to live in it? Just when archaeologists were looking for answers to these questions, many villagers in Xipo Village reported that this large palace was the palace of the Yellow Emperor of Xuanyuan, so why were the villagers so sure that this palace was the palace of the Yellow Emperor of Xuanyuan? What secrets are hidden in it?
Villagers said that not far from the village there is a mountain called Jingshan, which is the remnant of the Qinling Mountains, and if you stand in the village and look in the direction of Jingshan, you can see three small hills, which are Xuanyou Mountain, Xuanyuantai and Kwafu Mountain.
According to the records of the "Book of History and Fengyan", after the Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan defeated Xuan You, he unified the tribes of the world, in order to record this great achievement. The Yellow Emperor of Xuanyuan had forged a ding on Jingshan Mountain, and after success, a divine dragon suddenly appeared in the sky and took the Yellow Emperor away and ascended to heaven. "The Yellow Emperor is the third baoding, like the people of heaven and earth." - "The Book of History and Fengliang"
After the Yellow Emperor ascended, the people called this place "Zhudingyuan" in honor of him and built a Temple of the Yellow Emperor. Zhudingyuan is located in Lingbao City, where the middle and upper reaches of the Yellow River bend, south of Jingshan Mountain, north of the Yellow River. The Xipo Village, where the large palace was excavated this time, is at the foot of the mountain of Zhudingyuan, so people infer that this place is the palace of the Yellow Emperor of Xuanyuan.
In order to get more clues, in 2004, the archaeological team organized a large number of manpower and material resources to begin the fourth large-scale excavation of the site. They conducted a high-density drilling survey of five meters and one hole within a range of more than 400,000 square meters of the west slope site, and drilled more than 16,000 holes, and the results obtained were encouraging.
Through exploration, the archaeological team found that around the palace, there were a large number of buildings, all of which faced the central palace. Such a large number of palace complexes can only be described as magnificent in the Stone Age 5,000 years ago. All the results of the exploration show that the ruins of Xipo Village are an ancient city with a clear architectural structure.
For more than ten years, the archaeological team has been excavating at the site of Xipo Village, collecting a large number of historical materials and cultural relics, and with more and more archaeological discoveries, they are more and more convinced that this is the capital of the Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan, the ancestor of China. Experts said that if this is the capital of the Yellow Emperor of Xuanyuan, then the tomb of the Yellow Emperor is likely to be nearby, and perhaps one day, with the progress of archaeological excavations, a super-large ancient tomb will be discovered, which may be the most sacred place of worship for all the descendants of Yanhuang.
