In 1940, Yan Lisan stepped down from office, and with the Second Security Regiment of Hubei Province, he founded the "Sunping Reclamation Office" in Xuan'en County to establish a production and supply base for the front. In 1944, Yan Lisan died of illness in Hubei at the age of 52.
