One of the "Five Heroes of Wolf's Tooth Mountain", he survived after heroically jumping off a cliff, but was hospitalized in his later years but simple and thrifty

When we were in school, there were many legendary deeds about the heroes and martyrs during the War of Resistance Against Japan in chinese language textbooks, including Qiu Shaoyun, Huang Jiguang, Wang Erxiao, and the Five Heroes of Wolf's Tooth Mountain. However, our book only mentions the tragic scene of these five martyrs jumping off the cliff, and does not explain what happened to these soldiers afterwards, in fact, these five martyrs did not all die, and some survived.

In 1941, the War of Resistance Against Japan entered its most intense stage. The Japanese constantly swept away China's land, trying to find hidden anti-Japanese bases. The Wolf's Tooth Mountain area in Yi County, Hebei Province, was also targeted by them. They have created a large number of bloody cases and carried out the infamous "Three Lights Policy" in an attempt to eliminate our base areas.

On September 24, 1941, more than 3,000 Japanese puppet troops suddenly surrounded Langya Mountain, and more than 2,000 soldiers and civilians in four counties were surrounded. In order to launch a breakthrough, the guerrillas decided to adopt the tactic of "encircling Wei and saving Zhao", and the Seventh Company was responsible for covering the transfer of large troops. In the face of the fierce attack of the Japanese puppet army, the losses of the Seventh Company were very heavy.

In order to save the wounded soldiers of the 7th Company, Ma Baoyu, one of the squad leaders, led the other 4 soldiers Ge Zhenlin, Song Xueyi, Hu Delin and Hu Fucai to stay. The 5 of them intended to move in the direction of the chessboard, and after reaching the cliff, the five would rather sacrifice than surrender to the Japanese. They shouted "Long live communism" and jumped off the cliff together.

At this time, it is necessary to mention one person, that is, the famous patriotic Taoist Taoist Li Yuantong. In his early years, he fought with warlords and later became disgusted by the days of fighting and killing, so he studied acupuncture in the Taoist temple of the Wolf's Tooth Mountain Chessboard. After the Japanese invaded China, he actively organized Taoist priests to provide assistance to the Eighth Route Army in the Taoist Temple.

After the five heroes jumped off the cliff, squad leader Ma Baoyu and soldier Hu Delin, Hu Fucai heroically sacrificed, but deputy squad leader Ge Zhenlin and soldier Song Xueyi were lucky to be hung by branches on the cliff. Later, he heard about this and rushed to the place where they jumped off the cliff, found Ge Zhenlin and Song Xueyi hanging from the tree, and rescued them.

But sadly, after this incident, the Japanese army "swept" the Taoist temple where he was located. He happened to go to the bottom of the mountain to report the news, and only then did he pick up a life, but the Daoist priests in guannei and the Eighth Route Army were sacrificed. He looked at this scene and was heartbroken.

There is also a theory that a Yu Yaofu fled through Shuang'an Ridge and saw two bloodied warriors crawling on the mountain. He took them to a nearby ruined temple and helped them apply medicine. Three days later, the two of them had just recovered from their injuries and were looking for a large force. He wanted to go with them, but Ge Zhenlin was dissuaded by Ge Zhenlin because he was worried that he would be involved in an accident.

After recovering from his injuries, Ge Zhenlin continued to participate in the War of Liberation and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and made great contributions to the War of Resistance.

On March 21, 2005, he died of heart and lung failure at the 169th Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army at the age of 88.

A nurse at 169 hospitals recalls Ge's last hospital stay. As soon as she turned on the light switch, Ge Lao turned it off, not allowing the air conditioner to be turned on, and turning it off as soon as she turned it on. Elder Ge said to her, "Girl, it's not dark or cold now, and our country is not rich yet." ”
