After he was promoted to the commander of the 98th Army, Hu Zongnan asked him to die, but Pei Changhui asked him to revolt

Life will face different choices, choose the right piece of light, choose the wrong one is the bottomless abyss.

After Liu Jinzhi was promoted to the commander of the 98th Army of the Nationalist Army, he faced an important choice in his life.

Liu Jinzhi was a zhejiang scholar who studied architectural engineering at Xiamen University in his early years, and was later influenced by his fifth uncle, General Liu Fengwei, to submit to the army, first to the officer corps of the 22nd Army of the National Revolutionary Army, and then to the Huangpu Military Academy Nanjing Sixth Transportation Department and the 11th regular class of the Army University for further study.

After Liu Jinzhi joined the army, he mainly engaged in education and staff work, but because of his relationship with Chen Cheng and Hu Zongnan, his position was repeatedly promoted, which can be described as an infinite scenery, and after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he was already the director of the 5th Department of the Ministry of National Defense.

However, he was bent on working in the combat unit, and under his repeated requests, he finally got the opportunity to go down to the field unit. However, instead of commanding the troops at the front, he was ordered to build the army in the rear. After several divisions were formed, the results were handed over to others for command.

In 1947, Shangfeng ordered him to go to Chongqing to form the 57th Division, which was responsible for the garrison of Ankang, under the command of Hu Zongnan, and later when the People's Liberation Army marched into the southwest, Hu Zongnan ordered him to guard against death until he was exhausted. Although he was under the command of Hu Zongnan, Liu Jinzhi was also inseparable from Hu Zongnan, because he was not from Hu Zongnan's lineage. To a certain extent, he still liked pei changhui of the 7th Corps.

At the end of 1949, Liu Jinzhi was promoted to the commander of the 98th Army, and at this time the Kuomintang army had been defeated and retreated to the point where there was no way to retreat, and Liu Jinzhi could only hide in the Daba Mountains to prepare for guerrilla warfare.

Liu Jinzhi knew very well that fleeing into the mountains to fight guerrilla warfare was not the way out after all. One day he received a telegram from Hu Zongnan asking him to go out of the mountains to fight our army to the death, and then he soon received a telegram from Pei Changhui, commander of the 7th Corps, asking him to lead an uprising.

Faced with these two positive and negative telegrams, he felt that he was in the middle of a life-and-death choice.

The uprising is not a simple matter, it is also a systematic project, otherwise it will mutiny and the whole army will be scattered. Although he approved of the uprising, he still gave the choice to everyone, and he ordered people to compile three plans: 1. Fight to the end, which not only harms the interests of the country and the people, but also deviates from the will of the officers and men of the whole army, and the consequence is that the whole army will be annihilated; 2. Lay down his weapons and wait for reorganization, so that the officers and men can return to their hometowns to be a good citizen; 3. Uprising, abandon the dark and turn to the light, and go to the light. Then the officers above the group level were summoned to a meeting, and after spreading things out, they said that if they agreed to which plan, they would sign under which plan.

As a result, a small number of people signed the first and second plan notes, and the vast majority of people signed the third plan note.

On December 26, 1949, Liu Jinzhi, in accordance with the opinions of most of the generals in the army, announced that the 98th Army would follow the 7th Corps in uprising, and at the same time he declared: "The rebel troops are part of the People's Liberation Army, and they must strictly abide by the "Three Major Disciplines" and "Eight Notes" of the People's Liberation Army..."

After the uprising, Liu Jinzhi first arranged to be a military instructor at the Nanjing Military Academy of the People's Liberation Army, then settled in Shanxi and Zhejiang, and served as counselors in the two provinces, and then successively elected as a member of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the vice chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Revolutionary Committee, and a member of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, and died of illness in Hangzhou on April 12, 1988, at the age of 85.
