He suffered a crushing defeat in the Battle of Laiwu, and wang Yaowu, commander of the Second Appeasement District, was so angry that he scolded: "50,000 troops will be eliminated in 3 days, that is, 50,000 pigs will be released for the communist army to capture, and they will not be able to catch them in 3 days!" This situation is like the one in the movie: "Report president, it is not that our army is too incompetent, but that the communist army is too cunning!" ”

This one who was defeated in the Battle of Laiwu was Li Xianzhou, a famous general of the Nationalist Army.
Li Xianzhou was a native of Dezhou, Shandong, who practiced martial arts in his early years, entered the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy in 1924, and after graduation, he served as a platoon commander, a company commander during the Eastern Expedition, a battalion commander during the Northern Expedition, a regiment commander during the Second Northern Expedition, a brigade commander after the Central Plains War, and later a division commander with the rank of major general of the army. It can be seen that he is a sufficiently important military talent for Chiang Kai-shek.
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, in the Battle of Xinkou, which began in October 1937, Li Xianzhou took the lead as a soldier and personally visited the forward position as a division commander, but was unexpectedly beaten through the chest by Japanese snipers, and the soldiers risked death to carry him down from the highland position for rescue. Fortunately, Li Xianzhou's life was large, the Japanese army shot this shot, it happened that he was exhaling, the lobes of the lungs were atrophied, the bullet passed between the two lobes of the lungs, so the injury was not serious, if it was shot when inhaling, it would be hanging.
After recovering from his wounds, he was promoted to commander of the Ninety-second Army and commander of the Twenty-first Division in 1938 and was promoted to lieutenant general, and then promoted to lieutenant general in 1944 to lieutenant general commander of the 28th Army (92nd Army, provisional 15th Army). After that, he also participated in the Battle of Xuzhou, the Battle of Wuhan, the Battle of Zaoyi, and the Battle of Yuzhong.
At the beginning of 1943, Li Xianzhou entered the Shandong region on the orders of Chiang Kai-shek, ostensibly saying that he was reinforcing the Xuezhongbu, but in fact he came to seize the territory. After entering the Shandong territory, Li Xianzhou had friction with the Eighth Route Army, which had already established an anti-Japanese base area here. As early as after Li Xianzhou arrived in Shandong, the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army demanded that the Eighth Route Army in Shandong should "basically still emphasize dredging and unity as the mainstay" in their arrival, make full use of Li Bu's anti-war side, and "encourage and promote it to actively fight against the enemy." In view of their unfriendly behavior, we should pay more attention to the attitude of struggle and goodwill criticism, pay special attention to using more people's organizations, public opinion organs and third-party forces to promote the progress of friendly forces, change their attitude towards us, and do not easily use armed counterattacks until the last resort." However, Li Xianzhou did not think so, and he believed that the Eighth Route Army's overtures to him were to shake his military heart, treat the Eighth Route Army with a very unfriendly attitude, and lay siege to him. Forced to do so, the Eighth Route Army fought back, and finally he had to withdraw from Shandong.
After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Li Xianzhou was transferred to the post of deputy commander under Wang Yaowu, commander of the Second Appeasement District.
In February 1947, Li Xianzhou, together with chen Yi and Su Yu, led by the East China Field Army, suffered a crushing defeat in Laiwu, Shandong Province, and himself was captured on the battlefield. Therefore, there is a sentence from Wang Yaowu at the beginning of this article: "50,000 troops, 3 days will be eliminated, that is, 50,000 pigs will be released for the communist army to catch, and 3 days will not be able to finish!" ”
For this fiasco in Laiwu, is this really incompetent of Li Xianzhou? Of course not!
Some people say that it was Because of Chen Cheng, before the war, Li found out that the communist army had an attempt to encircle and annihilate him, and it was Chen Cheng who forcefully pushed him into the encirclement circle of the communist army; others said that it was his own subordinate Han Liancheng, who deliberately postponed the breakthrough time by one day, so that the communist army had time to find an encirclement; others said that he was the most powerful and capable general Su Yu, and he could not succeed if he did not want to lose.
In the author's opinion, Li Xianzhou's Laiwu fiasco was not a defeat to others, but a defeat to the situation, it was the general trend of social development that made him suffer a fiasco, at that time the people's hearts and minds were already tilted toward the Communist Party, and all any military efforts were in vain.
After Li Xianzhou was captured, he was imprisoned in the Fushun War Criminals Management Center, pardoned in 1960, and later served as a commissioner of the secretariat of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a standing committee member, and a member of the Shandong Provincial Committee and a standing committee member of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee, and died in Jinan on October 22, 1988, at the age of 94.
