In the meantime, a stray bullet from the enemy hit him in the chest, and the soldiers mistakenly thought that he had died, and they were filled with indignation, and the shouts of "avenge Director Lu" resounded throughout the mountains. His name was also reported to the division headquarters along with the list of fallen soldiers.

He died on 12 March 2007 at the age of 92.
