On December 24, the "GDMoA Annual Artist Academic Nomination Exhibition (2021)" was opened under the guidance of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and sponsored by the Guangdong Museum of Art. Gu Xiaoping, Cao Fei, Guo Gong and other more than 20 contemporary artists participated in the exhibition.
According to reports, the "GDMoA Annual Artist Academic Nomination Exhibition (2021)" uses a new selection and curatorial mechanism to carry out observation and research on the art ecology in Guangdong and even the whole country, focusing on the artistic context of China's diversified development today, excavating art creators with the spirit of exploration and expression, and building a leapfrog communication platform in the interaction of scholars, the public, and artists.
The academic committee members nominating the artists participating in this exhibition come from many "big names" in the art world, including Wang Shaoqiang, director of the Guangdong Museum of Art, Ji Shaofeng, director of the Hubei Art Museum, Lu Peng, artistic director of Yinchuan Museum of Contemporary Art, Pi Daojian, deputy director of the Curatorial Committee of the China Artists Association, Wu Hongliang, president of the Beijing Academy of Fine Arts, and Zhang Zikang, director of the Art Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
Wang Shaoqiang, director of the Exhibition Planner and Director of the Guangdong Museum of Art, said at the opening ceremony: "If exchange is a necessary condition for cultural pluralism, the stagnation of human social exchanges in real space caused by spatial partitions, although online exchanges are still going on, the unique significance of physical space in the place cannot be ignored, and to a large extent, it will inevitably affect the pluralism of the whole society." ”
He said that this project will continue to promote the practice of contemporary art creation, continuously improve the research and curation mechanism in the innovative construction of Chinese contemporary art and exhibition mechanism, build its own academic series, and explore the direction of art in the present and future.

The Guangdong Museum of Art has also continuously deepened its academic research system in the history of modern and contemporary art, upgrading and iterating the exhibition system in the fields of Guangdong art, coastal and bay area art development, contemporary art, and the future construction of talent training mechanisms.
The organizers said that relying on the vigorous trend of the accelerated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Guangdong Museum of Art will increase investment and research in the direction of the ecological construction of art in the Pearl River Delta, further deepen the mechanisms of art creation, talent training, exhibition planning along the contemporary, national and coastal nature, and based on the original academic positioning of the Guangdong Museum of Art, comprehensively realize the presentation, combing and in-depth exploration of Chinese modern and contemporary art, especially Guangdong and coastal modern art, bay area art and contemporary art.
Wang Shaoqiang believes that this exhibition is "an artistic practice activity that transcends space and personal thinking." "The artwork carries the creative ideas of artists from all over the country and the artistic judgments of curators, and gathers from all sides in Guangdong." He introduced that the new nomination mechanism ensures the comprehensiveness of the composition of this exhibition, under this system, the nominators and nominated artists are not limited to a specific region, and the artistic concepts they show can also collide with new sparks in this exchange platform, linking the entire Chinese contemporary art ecology.
