Everything can be included in a painting, but the mood and emotions conveyed depend not only on the artist's heart, but also on the viewer's eyes. On May 15th, the opening ceremony of the Vientiane - Contemporary Oil Painting Exhibition was held in Huihong Building, Painter Street, Wending Road, Xuhui District, and 12 artists, most of whom were university teachers, presented their "Vientiane" with nearly 30 works.
The exhibition is divided into three sections: fiction in realism, natural secrets, and rhythm in painting, all of which are selected as small works by artists, vividly reflecting their interests and qualities in their daily creations.
Hou Wei, a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai Normal University, brought three works to the exhibition, all of which were from the "Dust" series. Hou Wei said that the "Dust Series" is a series of works created by himself, combining oil painting and Tempera techniques into watercolor, and expressing dust with thick watercolor. For example, "Bubble", with the theme of an old, dusty light bulb, expresses the brightness of life. "Although the life of the light bulb has collapsed, its image is still there, and when you see it, you will be reminded of its brightness and temperature, and you will also feel a kind of peace after the noise."

The paper-folded "heart box" and "Uzi submachine gun", as well as the paper-folded sword and large and small darts, He Zhenhao, associate professor of the Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai Normal University, painted the children's handmade works into the works, showing a childlike fun. He said that although the paintings are very ordinary origami, the small parts of the works are not very standard, and the creases are very immature and unfamiliar, but the painting gives these origami a special meaning, making it like a small boat, taking us through time and space to meet the teenager in our memory.
"In the process of artistic creation, artists practice step by step, concretizing their cognition of art and presenting it on the canvas, sharing the richness of the universe and the mysterious creative power with the viewer." Curator Xu Lei said that in the era of rapid growth of artificial intelligence, cooperation and confrontation between art and technology require cooperation, communication and discussion between people more than ever, so as to bring inspiration and collision, "This mutual stimulation can promote the diversity and richness of art."
It is understood that Vientiane - Contemporary Oil Painting Exhibition will continue to be on display in Huihong Building until May 25.
