In January this year, FAW, Audi and the Changchun Municipal People's Government signed an agreement announcing the establishment of a joint venture project in Changchun by Audi FAW BJEV. According to the agreement, audi FAW BJEV joint venture project plans to introduce ppe platform, the plant plans a total investment of more than 30 billion yuan, the first model will be put into operation in 2024.

According to the "Engineering Analysis Document of the Construction Project of Audi FAW New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd.", Audi FAW New Energy will invest 15.8 billion yuan to build a plant and supporting utilities to meet the annual production capacity of 150,000 electric vehicles, and purchase corresponding process equipment to build a pure electric vehicle factory. It is reported that in the first phase, Audi FAW will introduce the high-end electric vehicle platform developed by Audi and Porsche for large electric vehicles - PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, on the basis of which to produce two pure electric SUV models including Audi Q6L e-tron (eQ5), Q6L e-tron Sportback (eQ6) and E6L Limousine pure electric sedan. Mass production will begin as soon as the end of 2023.

"Judging from the status of the Audi Q5/Q5 L among Audi's domestic cars, it is normal for models such as the Q6 e-tron, which are similar in size, to be given priority." Industry insiders said that at present, the scale of the domestic new energy market has reached a sufficient volume, and each brand will accelerate the pace of entry. "Audi FAW's main task is to produce electric vehicles and pave the way for Audi's electrification strategy in China."
