Take the new historical material I found, and look at it in conjunction with other historical sources. Liu Shipei was wronged. This also made him feel indefensible and painful for a period of time.
In fact, even if he has betrayed his friends and comrades, the "Zhang Gong case" is not the biggest stain on Liu Shipei's life.
Some time ago, there was a plot in the TV series "The Age of Awakening" - Zhang Changli and Wu Bingxiang set up a Hongmen banquet for Liu Shipei, Gu Hongming, and Huang Kan. The three did not give face. Liu Shipei has a line: "Although I do not agree with the cultural views of Cai Yuanpei, Chen Duxiu and Hu Shi, I have not forgotten that I am a Chinese, and I absolutely do not approve of the government signing this traitorous Paris Agreement." Whether Liu Shipei really said this sentence, I have not found any evidence to support it. But through the combing and analysis of historical materials, I think he did not betray his friends and comrades. When you say this, it is not unreasonable. Of course, in 1908, "exposing" Zhang Taiyan's "rebellion" was indeed very excessive. At that time, the two of them completely fell out of their faces, and it was inevitable that they would act with anger.
However, participating in the preparatory meeting and being Yuan's trumpeter and car driver cannot be erased under any circumstances. This is the biggest stain on his life!
Liu Chengyu's "Notes on the Book of Hongxian Chronicle Poems" Volume 1 contains a poem dedicated to Liu Shipei: "A thousand stirrup hats are as white as frost, and Lang Zhao returns to the concubines leaning on the corridor." Call up the shouguan silver armor team, let the husband have a glow. ”

Liu Shipei, the first name of Shi Pei, zi Shen uncle, Jiangsu Yizheng people.
