The person who ridiculed Hu Shi was not a bystander, but a madman of the Republic of China, Huang Kan. Speaking of this madman, his life is rich and colorful, that is, he dares to be so blatant to ridicule the talent Hu Shi. And Hu Shi was thin-skinned and ashamed to defend, and every time he heard Huang Kan's ridicule, the laughter passed.
Huang Kan, a native of Hubei, was born in 1886 in Sichuan. Gifted and clever since childhood. You can read at the age of 3, you can read at the age of 5, and you can recite poems at the age of 7. Before the age of 30, he opened a sect in the field of traditional Chinese studies, and his disciples were exceptionally excellent, and they were known as "Yellow Door Waiters".
Throughout his life, he made great achievements in the fields of classics, literature, and philosophy, and was known as "the integrator of primary schools since Qianjia". He is the pioneer of modern "primary school" research, and his status in the academic community is comparable to that of Hu Shi.
The reason why Huang Kan is called a madman of the Republic of China is because he has been wild and uninhibited all his life, and regards moral etiquette as nothing. Do your own thing as a human being, without scruples. Everyone looked at him as a master and gave up three points, and over time everyone became accustomed to his "yellow madman" words, which became a strange story in the academic circles of the Republic of China.

When Huang Kan took refuge in Japan, he lived on the same upper floor as Zhang Taiyan. Late one night, Huang Kan was anxious and didn't bother to go to the toilet, so he directly opened the window to "solve it on the spot". Unfortunately, Zhang Taiyan happened to pass by downstairs that day, and Huang Kan's "flying down three thousand feet" was completely accepted by Zhang Taiyan, which was really embarrassing. The "chapter madman" was very annoying, where he ate this loss, he scolded at the upstairs. And Huang Kan, who had done something bad, did not have the consciousness of the perpetrator at all, and immediately turned his lips to each other upstairs, and suddenly there was a scolding upstairs and downstairs, so it was not lively.
The two people scolded each other for half a day, scolded the real fire, exchanged names and prepared to fight, and as a result, they were stunned after listening to each other's names. Because the two people have heard each other's big names, and they meet in a foreign country, they suddenly feel sorry for each other. The two people also changed from scolding wars to academic discussions, and the more they talked, the more speculative they became. So Huang Kan worshiped Zhang Taiyan as a teacher on the spot.
Huang Kan not only inherited Zhang Taiyan in his studies, but his temper was even better than blue, and he could "go berserk" anytime and anywhere, scolding people and gods, and angering people.
Zhang Taiyan likes Huang Kan very much, not only has a similar temperament, but more importantly, Huang Kan is brilliant and quick-witted. Zhang Taiyan once sighed: "It is often said that the progress of learning is like traveling thousands of miles a day, and now Ru is a day and a thousand miles!" On the basis of inheriting Zhang Taiyan's learning, and combining his own learning, Huang Kan created and proposed a research method of "entering the scriptures from primary schools, entering the scriptures into history, and with a period of ten years, it will be achieved". He read the Bible dozens of times, giving examples at random, with few mistakes. He often said that there are five ways of learning: "One is not to deceive others, the second is not to deceive others, the third is not to betray what is true, the fourth is to be responsible for future generations, and the fifth is not to steal." ”
Second, the literary concept runs counter to Hu Shi and scolds Hu Shi for being addicted
Because Hu Shi was an advocate of the New Culture Movement and advocated "hitting the Confucius family shop", this clashed with Huang Kan, who promoted Sinology. And because after Hu Shitong came to Peking University to teach, he attracted Fu Sinian, the most proud disciple under Huang Kan's disciples, to change the court, and these two things especially hit Huang Kan's face. Third, married nine times of debauchery, worried about the country and democracy and reform
The biggest problem in Huang Kan's life is that he loves beauty. He was married nine times in his life. This also brought him a lot of criticism, and even there were rumors such as "Huang Kan's article went all over the world, lustful, not my mother, not my daughter, but my wife". Tang Guoli once publicly criticized Huang Kan's private life in the newspaper as a "shameless dressed beast."
The teacher Zhang Taiyan did not think so, and he showed enough tolerance for his disciples. Zhang Taiyan believes that Huang Kan is particularly similar to the ancient Ruan Book, no matter how he plays with the ritual law, but when his mother is bereaved, he vomits blood and is still a pure filial piety. "Filial piety" comes first, and the heart must be a kind person.
Another thing that Huang Kan liked by Zhang Taiyan was that although he used Chinese studies, he was not pedantic. Few people know that Huang Kan was actually one of the elders of the Xinhai Revolution. The contradiction between the radicalism of political thought and the old school of his research is vividly reflected in him. Although Huang Kan was born into a family of qing dynasty officials, Huang Kan rebelled from an early age and withstood the influence of new ideas, and was a maverick from an early age. Because of his unique behavior and being tolerated by the world, he quit the academy early and actively promoted progressive ideas and promoted the revolution.
In 1906, Huang Kan published articles such as "Lamenting the Poor People" and "Lamenting the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom" to attack the corrupt Qing government, and in 1907, he published an article criticizing Kang Youwei and others for "good names" and "pursuing profits", and changing the law impurely. Because of his long-term criticism of the Qing government, Huang Kan was once on the blacklist of the Qing government, which led to the avoidance of Japan and the worship of Zhang Taiyan.
Huang Kan, who was cynical to the world and rigorous and devout in learning, once made a wish: Do not write books before the age of 50. Because he wants to integrate his own knowledge, the books he writes will not mislead people.2 Unfortunately, huang Kan was 49 years old, just after his birthday, he died of a serious illness, and throughout his life, not a single book was left, only posterity sorted out some posthumous manuscripts, which has to be said to be a big loss to The Chinese academic community!
