During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the number of puppet armies in central Jiangsu ranked first among the strategic regions in central China, with more than 13,000 people in the third sub-district of central Jiangsu alone. Chen Yi once said to Ye Fei: "If our army can subdue the puppet army militarily and control the puppet army politically, it will be equivalent to smashing the enemy's 'liquidation and suppression' and 'sweeping.'" ”

According to Chen Yi's instructions, the counter-insurgency work of the puppet army in the three sub-districts has been done with great sound and brilliant results. Among them, Shi Yafu, a communist party member and lieutenant general of the puppet army who lurked under the eyes of the Japanese, risked his life to pass on information and saved a large number of senior generals of the New Fourth Army from being ambushed by the Japanese army, which was rumored to be a good story.
Shiyaf joined the puppet army and had a tortuous experience. A native of Nantong Tangzha, he joined the Communist Party of China in 1929 and was arrested in 1934 and imprisoned in Nanjing's Laohuqiao Prison. In the autumn of 1937, when Japanese aircraft bombed Nanjing, Shi Yafu escaped by chaos, and in March 1938, he pulled up a team and established the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Soil Guard Regiment to connect with the party organization. In February 1940, with the consent of the party organization, the Nantong County Gendarmerie And Special Forces were established and served as the captain. In June 1941, the 7th Division of the Appeasement Army was established as the commander of the Lieutenant General Division.

Schyaf's task was to provide valuable military intelligence. Since Shi Yafu invaded the interior of the Japanese army, he always remembered this mission and continuously provided extremely important intelligence to the New Fourth Army, and Su Yu and Ye Fei also became "bright-eyed", grasping all the movements of the enemy at any time, and repeatedly bankrupting the combat plans of the Japanese puppet army.
In November 1942, Tian Junliu and Wang Jingwei, commanders-in-chief of the Japanese army invading China, decided to carry out a large-scale clearance of the countryside in the Nantong area of central Jiangsu, planning to completely eliminate the New Fourth Army. After Shi Yaf received this information, he sent someone to quickly inform the New Fourth Army. Therefore, Su Yu decided to inform the responsible cadres of the local party committees, military sub-districts, and brigades to go to Nankan for a meeting to study and arrange anti-Qing work.

The Nankan Conference was a grand meeting of the Soviet Central Military Region and an important meeting to guide the struggle against the Qing Dynasty. Meetings of this nature, in the case of complex hostilities, are known only to a few people who meet and none to the others. Curiously, on the desk of Nobuo Kobayashi, the supreme commander of the Japanese army in Nantong, a secret telegram about the details of the meeting was placed, indicating the location of the meeting, the names of senior cadres of the New Fourth Army attending the meeting, and their itinerary!
If Nobuo Kobayashi obtained the treasure, he immediately held an emergency meeting and arranged 4 Japanese brigades and 2 puppet army divisions to prepare to hunt down and ambush these senior cadres of the New Fourth Army and wipe out the forces of the New Fourth Army.
Fortunately, Shiyaf participated in this "ambush" meeting, and he was anxious in his heart, knowing that there must be a treacherous spy within the New Fourth Army. In order to protect these senior cadres, Shiyaf decided to find ways to hinder the realization of the enemy's pursuit plan, even at the cost of his own life.
During the break of the meeting, he hid in the toilet and wrote a note asking the adjutant to quickly send it to the intelligence station, and told him that this important information must be sent to Ye Fei's hands. At the same time, he decided to act opportunistically and find out the internal treachery.
After the meeting, Shi yafu walked up to Nobuo Kobayashi and said, "How could the New Fourth Army meet in Nankan?" South Kan is surrounded by the sea to the north and east, once surrounded, it is difficult to break through, will they choose that place of death for a meeting? Kobayashi shook his head and said affirmatively, "Our intelligence sources are 100 percent reliable, and they are confidential telegrams from the New Fourth Army telegraph operators who are recruited by our special high school, and your suspicions are groundless." ”
After figuring out where the traitors were hiding, Shi Yaf's purpose was achieved, and he immediately returned to the division headquarters and sent this important information to the Liuqiao intelligence station overnight.
The situation was in danger, and after Su Yu received the information, he immediately sent cavalry to inform the leaders of the units that were returning, asking them to change the route of the trip and ordering the personnel of the New Fourth Army in Nankan to move quickly. At the same time, in order to prevent the enemy from tracking with the direction finder, all radio stations were suspended.
After such an arrangement, the Japanese ambush plan became "a bamboo basket to draw water and an empty space", and all the leading cadres of the New Fourth Army returned safely. Half a month later, the security department of the Soviet Central Military Region, after several twists and turns, found the traitor and immediately executed him.

At the Nankan meeting, Tan Zhenlin, Su Yu, Guan Wenwei, Chen Pixian, Ye Fei, Wang Bicheng, Tao Yong, and other senior leaders of the New Fourth Army all attended the meeting; if they were ambushed by the Japanese army, it would be a heavy loss in the history of the Cpc's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Afterwards, it was said that if the enemy's conspiracy succeeded, the history of the New Fourth Army would be rewritten.
