The Battle of Kunlun Pass has a very high status in the history of the War of Resistance Against Japan, in November 1939, after the Japanese army successively occupied Qinzhou and Fangcheng, it sent a division and a brigade to march into Nanning to launch the Battle of Guinan, and the Nationalist government urgently mobilized five group armies to participate in the battle, including the Fifth Army, which Du Yuming was the commander of, and Du Yuming led his troops to Guinan and immediately held an operational meeting.

After formulating the campaign arrangements, Du Yuming summoned Dai Anlan, commander of the 200th Division, and Zheng Tingji, deputy commander of the 200th Division, and let them take on the operational task of attacking Kunlun Pass.
The 200th Division was repulsed by the Japanese wing and lost the main position of Kunlun Pass, which made Chiang Kai-shek very angry, called the Guilin camp, and issued a combat order: "If you cannot complete the task within the time limit, you will be dealt with on the spot for fear of the enemy!" The First Division and the 200th Division were the main attack divisions, and the Japanese army engaged head-on, and the casualties were close to two thousand people in no time, and the Fortifications built by the Japanese army at Kunlun Pass were very strong, and for a time, Dai Anlan was helpless.
In order to take Kunlun Pass, Dai Anlan decided to personally lead two regiments to launch a fierce attack on the Jieshou position, and the Japanese army formed a dense firepower network to return fire to prevent Dai Anlan's troops from charging; in order to take the position, Dai Anlan decided to form a death squad, let them carry grenades, pull out the gun holes of the Japanese stronghold, and at the expense of several people, the death squad successfully completed its task, thwarted the Japanese firepower network, and made the first contribution to taking the Jieshou position.
In this battle, the division commander Dai Anlan was seriously wounded, but the task was not yet completed, he continued to command the battle with tenacious perseverance, when he conquered the 441 heights and killed the commander of the Japanese major general brigade, Dai Anlan went to heal his wounds, and when cleaning the battlefield, he found Nakamura Masao's notebook, which read: "The 21st Brigade was awarded the title of Steel Army in the Russo-Japanese War, and it was because my tenacity defeated Russia's tenacity, but I admit that at present, I have encountered an army that is more tenacious than the Russian army." ”
Shortly thereafter, the Chinese Expeditionary Force was established, Dai Anlan was ordered to go to the Indo-Burma battlefield, because of the Battle of Kunlun Pass, Chiang Kai-shek attached great importance to Dai Anlan, believing that no matter what kind of vicious battles and dangerous battles he could complete, just after going to India and Burma, Chiang Kai-shek let him hold Donggua for a week or two, this battle the Japanese army air and land coordinated operations, and Dai Anlan only had an army, the total strength was only a quarter of the Japanese army, but, under his command, he still held Donggua for 12 days, but unfortunately, a few months later, Dai Anlan was unfortunately killed.
