In May 1942, the 200th Division of the Expeditionary Force was surrounded by Japanese troops in the process of retreating back to China, and the division commander Dai Anlan ordered a breakthrough. Unfortunately, a row of bullets shot into Dai Anlan's chest and abdomen, and General Dai Anlan was seriously injured. In this battle, Liu Shuren, the commander of the 599th Regiment of the 200th Division, was killed on the spot, and his men struggled to recover Dai Anlan, who was seriously injured. The 200th Division was under the command of Deputy Division Commander Gao Jiren and 598 Regiment Commander Zheng Tingdi.
On May 26, Dai Anlan, already feeling the loss of his life, specifically ordered his soldiers to sort out their uniforms. In the afternoon, General Dai Anlan closed his eyes forever and died in the Burmese state of Mao, just a few dozen miles from the border. After the death of General Dai Anlan, his men wanted to carry his body back to the motherland, but due to weather reasons, they could only be cremated, and eventually the remnants of the 200th Division brought General Dai Anlan's ashes back to the motherland.
General Dai Anlan's sacrifice for the country caused a great shock, and there was a scene in the TV series "Expeditionary Force": Chiang Kai-shek said affectionately after learning of Dai Anlan's sacrifice: "The seagull flew away forever." Dai Anlan is Chiang Kai-shek's system, and chiang kai-shek's heart will definitely be sad after his sacrifice. Not only Chiang Kai-shek, but also many well-known people at that time sent a link to Dai Anlan, including the famous "Ying of Huangpu, the Hero of the Nation". The Nationalist government also held a grand public ceremony for Dai Anlan. General Dai Anlan was also recognized as a national hero for his outstanding contributions in the War of Resistance Against Japan.
Of course, after the death of General Dai Anlan, it was his family, especially his wife, who was most saddened. General Dai Anlan's wife was named Wang Hexin, and after Dai Anlan went to the battlefield in Burma, he wrote a suicide note in advance, and these suicide notes were called "Unsent Family Letters". General Dai Anlan's suicide note to his wife famously said: "It is extremely glorious to die in battle for the country." For the sake of the country and the nation, General Dai Anlan put his life and death on the line, which is really a song and a tear, and it is admirable and admirable.
Born in the countryside and not in a wealthy family, General Dai Anlan once entrusted his wife to several friends in his suicide note. Moreover, General Dai Anlan also has four children, Wang Hexin, a woman, who must take care of her in-laws with four children and take care of her in-laws, and life is certainly not easy. In order to take care of Dai Anlan's widow, the Nationalist government specially gave Wang Hexin a pension, which is said to be 200,000 yuan.
Unexpectedly, after receiving this pension, Wang Hexin also did a very great thing: she donated all the pension that her husband had exchanged for his life and built a school in Guangxi to commemorate General Dai Anlan. Imagine that at that time, Wang Hexin's life was already very difficult, but in order to commemorate General Dai Anlan, she still donated this pension to support the cause of education, and Wang Hexin's actions were as great as Dai Anlan's martyrdom.
In 1943, after the death of General Dai Anlan, Dai Anlan's military commander Du Yuming and Tang Enbo and others proposed to build a school to commemorate General Dai Anlan, and finally the school was located in Quanzhou, Guangxi, the birthplace of the 200th Division. Ms. Wang Hexin, the widow of General Dai Anlan, donated the entire pension of General Dai Anlan of 200,000 yuan to establish the "Anlan Memorial Vocational School".
The school was chaired by Xu Tingyao, a fellow general of General Dai Anlan and known as the "father of the armored army"; Ms. Wang Hexin, the widow of General Dai Anlan; and a relative of General Dai Anlan, as the principal. In 1947, shortly after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the school moved to Wuhu, Anhui, the hometown of General Dai Anlan. After the founding of new China, the school was changed to "Wuhu Middle School", and soon after it was renamed "Wuhu No. 2 Middle School". "Wuhu No. 2 Middle School" has trained many outstanding talents for China and is a very famous local school.
General Dai Anlan is great, and his wife Wang Hexin is also great, and this school is a testimony.
