Recently, market research institute Counterpoint released a research report on mobile phone chip shipments in the third quarter of 2021. The report shows that in the third quarter, global smartphone SoC shipments increased by 6% year-on-year, while 5G smartphone SoC shipments nearly tripled year-on-year.
According to the data, MediaTek, Qualcomm, Apple, ZhanRui and Samsung ranked in the top five. Among them, MediaTek's market share was 40%, ranking first, down 3 percentage points from the second quarter. Qualcomm's market share was 27%, up 3 percentage points from the previous quarter. Apple's market share was 15%, up 1 percentage point from the previous quarter. Zhan Rui's market share reached 10%, an increase of 1.6 percentage points from the previous quarter. Samsung's market share was 5%, down 2 percentage points from the previous quarter.
