Recently, GM officially announced that its GMC brand will launch Electric Sierra Denali, or GMC Sierra electric pickup truck. The car will be the second electric pickup product developed by the GMC brand after the launch of the Hummer EV pickup, and GM also announced that the Chevrolet brand will also launch an electric version of the Silverado pickup, all three models are based on GM's new Ulitum platform.
The new Aoteneng electric vehicle platform epitomizes GM's "GM" technical advantages and diversified product lineup, which can be applied to multiple brands and different classes of models. On the Aoteneng platform, it is possible to create models with different wheelbases and sizes such as cars, SUVs, MPVs, pickups, etc., and can also use different drive combinations and battery forms: the platform can support battery capacities ranging from 50-200kwh, up to 640 km cruising range and as low as 3 seconds of 100 km acceleration time; the platform will be equipped with General Motors self-developed motors, supporting different power schemes such as front drive, rear drive, four-wheel drive, and performance four-wheel drive.
The Aoteneng platform is also the industry's first electric vehicle platform to adopt a wireless battery management system (WBMS), and the battery pack has been reduced by 90% of the wiring harness, which has greatly improved the development space and layout flexibility of the battery pack while achieving weight reduction. In addition, with GM's new generation of VIP intelligent electronic architecture, the battery management system can be remotely upgraded like a smartphone.
In the future, the new GMC Sierra EV will be produced at GM's Hamtrak plant in Detroit, tentatively scheduled for 2023, and is likely to begin production after the Hummer EV begins to roll off the production line. The Chevrolet Silverado EV is expected to begin production at Factory Zero in early 2023, while the 2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup will begin deliveries to customers this month.
