Recently, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that the 2022 GMC Hummer EV produced from October 5, 2021 to January 20, 2022 requires GM to recall the models because it does not meet the requirements of the federal motor vehicle safety standard No. 108 on "lights, reflectors and related equipment". As a result, GM decided to recall and repair 10 Hummer EVs manufactured within the aforementioned dates. The company said that the Hummer EV produced after January 20 is in compliance with the relevant regulations, some of them are manufactured with parts that meet the specifications, and some are repaired before shipment, so these users do not have to worry about the safety of the vehicle.
It is reported that the tail light control system of these 10 Hummer EC models is equipped with the wrong software, which will cause part of the tail light beads to not work, can only maintain part of the lighting, if the tail light stops working, then including the brake lights, turn signal lights, reversing lights, side markers, gap lights and tail lights including all tail light groups will be disabled, and if the tail lights are in the open state, even after the vehicle is turned off, the tail lights will still not go out. This phenomenon will have an impact on the vehicle's driving safety and battery, and GM will replace the relevant taillights for the affected models to solve this problem.
