IT House learned that gallium nitride is a wide bandgap composite semiconductor material. According to third-party calculations, after using GaN devices, standard mobile phone chargers can slim down by up to 40%, or output more power under the same size conditions, suitable for consumer, industrial, automotive and other electronic products.

ST said the target applications for the family include built-in power supplies for consumer electronics such as chargers, PC external power adapters, LED lighting drivers, televisions and other appliances.
