This person served as a governor for 18 years, and was given the title of first class marquis in the prefect's office, which is a miracle within a miracle

Throughout the ages, in the past dynasties, there has never been a shortage of people who have been rewarded for their merits, and some people have changed from self-made to a pint and even a prince, and today I want to share with you this one, who has been in Zhizhou for 18 years, was named a first-class marquis by Yongzheng during the prefect's tenure, and during the Qianlong period, his title can be hereditary.

This kind of treatment and attention is something that many feudal officials have never had, which has also aroused the curiosity of many people, how much merit this person has been able to directly be awarded from a sipin official (prefect) to a first-class marquis, and it should be known that during the Qianlong period, the first-class marquis was above the nine pins and eighteenth rank, and belonged to the list of super products. According to the order of "Gonghou Bozi Male" from ancient times to the present, Zhang Tingyu, the elder of the Three Dynasties of Kang Yongqian, as the only Hanchen in the entire history of the Qing Dynasty who was assigned to the Taimiao Temple after his death, was at most named as a count (Xuanqin Bo) during his lifetime, but at that time he was already a scholar of the Zhengyi Pin Wenhua Temple and the first assistant of the cabinet. So according to common sense, even if this prefect has any merit, it is a miracle of miracles to be promoted from four pins to first class, what is the matter? Why did Yongzheng reward him so much? It all starts with this person.

According to the "Draft History of the Qing Dynasty", he was a descendant of the Ming Dynasty royal family, but according to the characters set by Zhu Yuanzhang for his 25 princes, there was no "Zhilian" character of Zhu Zhilian. Therefore, if Zhu Zhilian is really a descendant of the royal family, then at most he is only a distant house or a side branch, such as the descendant of Zhu Yuanzhang's nephew or brother. All in all, the Qing Dynasty at that time recognized him as a descendant of the Ming Dynasty.

Speaking of his growth experience, the history books do not record his birth year in detail, only that he was born during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. According to historical records, his grandfather Zhu Yi served as a supervisor in the army of Hong Chengzu during the Ming Chongzhen period, so from this point of view, it can also be seen that Zhu Zhilian was actually a side branch of the Ming Dynasty royal family, after all, in the Ming Dynasty, it was very important to pay attention to the theory of clan inheritance. In the Battle of Songshan, Hong Chengzu was defeated by the Qing army, and Zhu Yi, who was a supervisor, was also captured, and finally surrendered to the Qing Dynasty together with Hong Chengzu, and after the establishment of the Eight Banners system in Manchuria, it was subordinate to the Han army and set the white flag. However, during the reigns of Emperor Taiji, Shunzhi, and Kangxi, it was not known that Zhu Yimou and Zhu Zhilian were descendants of the Ming Dynasty royal family.

Zhu Zhilian obtained the title of Jinshi in 1692 (the thirty-first year of the Kangxi Dynasty), and in the same year was ordered to serve as the Governor of Bozhou, here I will popularize the concept of Zhizhou, the word Zhizhou began in the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty, and its initial meaning was "Quan Zhi a certain military state affair", which means that the central government is appointed as the governor of the local prefectures, which is a temporary position, and there is no precedent in terms of rank. It was not until the Ming and Qing dynasties that Zhizhou became an official position, and it was far from the meaning of Zhizhou in the Northern Song Dynasty. The Zhizhou of the Qing Dynasty was only in charge of administrative affairs, and there was a rule on the grade: from wupin.

Absolutely pleased, widowed banquet, stubborn, not tired, heavy farmers, iron-faced selfless.

Zhu Zhilian, who was in office in Bozhou, regarded this seemingly insignificant petty official as a lifelong undertaking. Before taking office, his friend had advised him not to go to Bozhou to take up a post, because Bozhou at that time was actually a very strong place, everyone was heavy on martial arts and light on literature, and it was difficult for zhizhou to have a solution in successive years, and his friend's worries did not make Zhu Zhilian retreat half a step, he believed that everything had a cause and effect, and everyone had a good side, so he could not be prejudiced against any matter and place, and he firmly believed that he could handle the relationship with the people of Bozhou. On the first day of taking office, Zhu Zhilian did not hold a welcome ceremony like most other officials, but walked between the villages in the state capital in plain clothes, and gained a deeper understanding of Bozhou by visiting the people's feelings.

The people of Bozhou had a special affection for this Zhu Daren, who was different from the previous Zhizhou, so the local squires in Bozhou raised funds to build a shrine for Zhu Zhilian to show their admiration, which made Zhu Zhilian deeply frightened, thinking that he could get such a love, but the enthusiasm of the people was very high, so he changed his original idea of demolishing the ancestral hall and turned it into a college for the people of Bozhou to use, which made his image of a qing official even more rooted. In 1707 (the forty-sixth year of the Kangxi Dynasty), Zhu Zhilian, who had been effective in terms of political achievements, was promoted to Tongzhi of Zhengwupin Anqing Province, and Zhu Zhilian, who had been in Bozhou for fifteen years, managed Bozhou in an orderly manner, and the people of Bozhou naturally did not want him to leave, and the governor of Bozhou wanted to apply for him to stay in office, but the people finally felt that although Zhu was transferred, he was promoted, and we could not delay the future of Zhu, and finally Zhu Zhilian was transferred from Zhizhou, and when he left, the people took a lot of food and vegetables to bid him farewell Zhu Zhilian was deeply moved.

In 1709 (the forty-eighth year of the Kangxi Dynasty), bozhou suddenly flooded, and the people were displaced. At that time, Liu Guangmei, the governor of Anhui, in order to let the people get through the difficulties as soon as possible, so he transferred Zhu Zhilian, who had a lot of prestige in Bozhou, back to Bozhou, and once again returned to Zhu Zhilian, who was in Bozhou Zhizhou, and saw that the people were suffering and his heart was aching, on the one hand, he applied for relief from the imperial court, on the other hand, he quickly stepped up his whip to ask for help from the surrounding state capitals, and there must be his figure on the first line of the daily disaster situation, and this difficulty was finally calmed down under his unremitting efforts day and night. In 1712 (the fifty-first year of the Kangxi Dynasty), after restoring Bozhou to its former tranquility, Zhu Zhilian was once again transferred back to Anqing as Tongzhi, and finally the official residence was from Sipin Zhengding Prefect.

In 1724 (the second year of Yongzheng), after Yongzheng succeeded to the throne, he would be given the title of "Marquis of the First Rank" from Zhu Zhilian of Sipin, and his original White Banner of the Han Army was inlaid with a white flag into the White Banner of the Han Army in the Three Banners, which shocked the government and the public, and the ministers did not know what Yongzheng was thinking in his heart, because according to the old system of the Qing Dynasty, in addition to the relatives of the emperor and the state, the meritorious minister was given the highest title of duke, and Zhu Zhilian could still rank first class to the marquis, which was really incomprehensible. As to why Yongzheng made Zhu Zhilian a marquis of the first rank at the beginning of his succession, in my opinion, there are three considerations:

Statue of Zhu Zhilian

First, establish a virtuous name. As mentioned above, Zhu Zhilian was a descendant of the Ming Dynasty, and this identity was not certified before Kangxi's death. It is well known that the Qing Dynasty existed in the world in place of the Ming Dynasty, so treating the members of the Ming Chamber well became a means of winning the name of the ming. Therefore, as early as the year of Kangxi's death (1722), Yongzheng set out to order people to search for the footprints of the descendants of the Ming Dynasty, and finally locked zhu Zhilian as a person, and made Zhu Zhilian a first-class marquis, which was one of the important measures for Yongzheng to establish a "virtuous prince" for himself. As for why Zhu Zhilian was promoted from four pins to a first-class marquis above Zheng Yipin, this is not what Yongzheng needs to think about, on the contrary, the greater this gap, the more it can reflect his eclectic use of talents.

Second, their own political achievements. I believe that seeing this, everyone understands that although Zhu Zhilian stepped into his career as a zhizhou, he regarded his profession as a lifelong career to do, during his tenure, he was sympathetic to the people's subordinates, committed to the people's livelihood plan, won the unanimous praise of the superiors, but also by the people's unanimous love, although the official is small and weak, but the things he did can shake the heavens and the earth, so this is also the reason why Yongzheng promoted him to marquis. Just imagine, if it were a random descendant of the Ming Dynasty or a person with no political achievements, there would be no basis for how Yongzheng would be rewarded.

Third, the country is stable. From the perspective of the Qing Dynasty's rule, the situation at the beginning of the Yongzheng succession was not yet clear and stable, and Yongzheng's preferential treatment of the Ming Room not only established the name of virtue, but also stabilized the heart of the Ming Room, which was of great benefit to the rule of the Qing Dynasty, so in this regard, the difference in grades was not worth mentioning at all in consolidating the rule.

According to the above three considerations, In the end, Zhu Zhilian was promoted to the rank of marquis of the first rank and given the right to sacrifice to the Ming Emperor's mausoleum. During the Qianlong period, his title was set as "Marquis of Yan'en of the First Rank", and his title was still alive during the Qing Dynasty's Xuanun Dynasty. Putting aside Yongzheng's personal considerations, Zhu Zhilian truly achieved the goal of serving the country and the people in the way of serving the officials, and he was the zhizhou with the longest tenure in Bozhou, Anhui, adding up to 18 years twice, and repeatedly helping the people of Bozhou to tide over the difficulties, until now Bozhou still retains his academy for posterity to remember.
