The War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was an important part of the World Anti-Fascist War, and Our country's contribution to the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression had a very great impact on the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. While invading our country, the Japanese army brought very heavy disasters to our people, and the crimes committed are too numerous to describe.
After the end of World War II, war criminals who committed major crimes in the war of aggression against China were detained and tried by the Military Tribunal for the Far East. Under humanitarian law, these war criminals can hire a lawyer. In 1948, Ningci Gangcun, who had committed various evil deeds, was tried in Shanghai, but unexpectedly, the person who served as The defense lawyer of Ningci Gangcun was Jiang Yiping, a famous Lawyer in China. Why did Jiang Yiping defend Gangcun Ningci? What happened to him in the end?

Talented lawyer
When people mention the name Jiang Yiping, they think of a talented lawyer who once stirred up the shanghai storm. When Jiang Yiping was a teenager, he showed his strong learning talent. Not only is he able to understand a lot of knowledge in one go, but he is also very good at memory. Later, with excellent results, Jiang Yiping successfully entered Soochow University for study.
As a young person of that era, I always had a sense of the times and a sense of mission in my heart. When Jiang Yiping saw the situation in China, his heart was full of indignation, he was not willing to let China always be in a backward state, but he had no way to do anything for China's future. In 1924, the May Thirtieth Movement ignited the enthusiasm of students across the country, and many students walked out of the library and went to the streets to demonstrate.
During this campaign, the government also arrested a large number of students, detained them and prosecuted them. Jiang Yiping took the initiative to defend these arrested students and worked hard to help them regain their freedom. And among all the students Jiang Yiping helped, he did not charge a fee for one person, and did this entirely because of the sense of mission in his heart.
After graduating from Soochow University, Jiang Yiping quickly became famous in society with his excellent business ability and very impressive appearance. At this time, Jiang Yiping actually did not know what he wanted to continue to do, he thought about it again and again, or decided to obtain a bachelor's degree in law and work in law after graduation.
After becoming a lawyer, Jiang Yiping, with his excellent debate ability and strong business, soon broke through in the legal profession. There are many government officials or businessmen, when they are involved in legal disputes, they will spend a lot of money to ask Jiang Yiping to defend themselves, after all, if they can invite Jiang Yiping, then their defense is equivalent to having a guarantee. As his fame grew higher and higher, Jiang Yiping slowly became a leader in Shanghai's political and legal circles.
However, it is sad that once such an idealistic, ambitious young man eventually became completely addicted to it after being exposed to power and wealth. Jiang Yiping's father once taught him that to be a man, you must eat according to your ability, you must uphold justice, and you must have lofty ambitions to serve the motherland. During his studies, Jiang Yiping always kept his father's teachings in mind, but under the temptation of money and power, he slowly forgot his father's teachings and slowly degenerated.
In order to be able to find shortcuts to success, Jiang Yiping used his marriage to find a way out for his career. He knew that the daughter of Yu Qiaqing, a famous capitalist in Shanghai, had not married out, and although Yu Qiaqing's daughter was ten years older than her, it was very worthwhile for Jiang Yiping to sacrifice his marriage in exchange for his own future.
After marrying Yu Qiaqing's daughter, as a big man who intersects in both black and white, Yu Qiaqing naturally promoted and helped Jiang Yiping. With the help of Yu Qiaqing, Jiang Yiping's career has risen steadily, and his fame has become more and more famous. After using marriage to obtain these benefits, Jiang Yiping also obtained a doctorate from Fudan University by illegal means, and also returned to his alma mater, Soochow University, as a nominal professor.
With a certain amount of power, Jiang Yiping is also very luxurious in life. At that time, the price of goods in Shanghai had been rising, and those who could live a wealthy life in Shanghai were generally particularly wealthy families. Jiang Yiping is a small lawyer, but he lives in a mansion, drives a luxury car every day, and enjoys a life of fine clothes and food.
In Jiang Yiping's own view, his life is enough to make many people envious, and he may be the winner of life in people's mouths. But for many Shanghainese people, they do not think that everything Jiang Yiping has gained is bought by his ability, and many people are talking about him in private, saying that he is just a small white face who relies on his wife's family relationship.
After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Jiang Yiping has been helping those dignitaries and dignitaries to fight some lawsuits to earn their own money. Later, Wang Jingwei's puppet government was established, and Wang Jingwei saw Jiang Yiping's reputation and took the initiative to invite Jiang Yiping to serve as the minister of justice of his government. At this time, Jiang Yiping was still a little bone-headed in his heart, knowing that it was a traitor to fight for Wang Jingwei's government, so he politely refused Wang Jingwei's invitation, but he could think that he would defend Gangcun Ningci later.
Defending Ninji Okamura
After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Nationalist Government began to try Japanese war criminals who had committed major evils in the war. As a first-class war criminal, Ninji Okamura naturally could not escape this trial. In 1948, his trial plans were put on the agenda. Speaking of Okamura Ninji, he was appointed by the Emperor of Japan in 1944 as the commander-in-chief of the Expeditionary Force invading China, and in order to achieve victory as soon as possible and receive the Emperor's reward, Okamura Ninji accelerated his aggression against China after taking office.
He not only allowed his subordinates to continue to cause massacres, but also actively promoted the pace of aggression by the forces and encroached on our territory. After Japan announced its unconditional surrender in 1945, Okamura Washiji was captured by our army and became a prisoner of war of our army. According to the evil deeds committed by Ninji Okamura in the war of aggression against China, many people believe that Ninji Okamura will not be able to escape death, but the result of the final trial of the court surprised everyone.
Okamura Ninji once recorded in his "Memoirs" that in the two or three years when he became a prisoner of war, the Chinese government and the top level of the Chinese military had a lot of care and help for themselves, which made him very grateful to them. In fact, this reflects that although Okamura Ningji became a prisoner of war, he was still treated well by the Kuomintang.
So why is that? It was mainly related to the domestic situation at that time. At that time, the war between the Kuomintang and the Communists had already begun, and the main enemy of the Kuomintang was the Communist army in the country. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, Ninji Gangcun was once called a genius in suppressing the Communist Party and had a unique means of dealing with our Party's army, so the Kuomintang government vainly tried to use the strength of Okamura Ninji to contain our Party.
In 1945, the Kuomintang high-level dispatched personnel to secretly give some gifts to Okamura Ningji, hoping that he would be able to come up with some tricks against our party to target the development of our party. Later, Chiang Kai-shek personally met with Ning ci of Gangcun and asked him about some methods for suppressing the Communists. Okamura Ningji is naturally not a fool, he knows that if he wants to save his life, then the straw in front of him must be grasped.
In 1946, the Kuomintang troops began to attack the Liberated Areas of our Party on a large scale, and the Kuomintang tore up the Double Tenth Agreement without authorization and provoked a civil war in the country. After the civil war was provoked, Chiang Kai-shek personally hired Okamura Ningji as his senior adviser, and the manual of suppressing bandits written by Okamura Ningji in those years was even issued and studied in large quantities in the army by Chiang Kai-shek.
In 1946, the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, the Tokyo Military Tribunal, asked the Kuomintang government to transfer Okamura Ninji to the Tokyo Military Tribunal for trial, and the domestic public also actively opposed Minatomura Ningji, strongly demanding that the government severely punish him. However, Chiang Kai-shek had his own considerations, and at this time the war between the Kuomintang and the Communists was in a stalemate period, and under no circumstances could he hand over this think tank of suppression of the Communists under his command.
As a result, the Kuomintang government delayed the trial of Ninji Okamura for various reasons, which strongly caused the dissatisfaction of the people. In 1948, the people's opposition to Okamura Ninji was getting louder and louder, and the Nationalist government had to examine the people's sentiments at this time, and announced to the public that the trial of Okamura Ninji was about to begin.
But in fact, this trial is nothing more than a show by the Kuomintang government and a means for the Kuomintang government to suspend the pressure of public opinion. In order to ensure that its plan was foolproof, the Kuomintang government had been looking for a lawyer in Shanghai to defend Ninji Gangcun. Jiang Yiping, who is very famous in Shanghai's legal and political circles, entered the sight of the Kuomintang government.
At first, Jiang Yiping was not particularly willing, but later, under the coercion and inducement of the Kuomintang government, he finally decided to become the defense lawyer of Okamura Ningji. After his father knew about it, he obstructed Jiang Yiping in every way, and even forced him to cut off his father and son, but Jiang Yiping finally went to court for his own future.
In the war of aggression against China, Gangcun Ningci repeatedly issued a three-light policy to his subordinates and killed ordinary Chinese people, and these crimes cannot be changed, but in court, Jiang Yiping listed some good things that Gangcun Ningci did for the common people during his time in North China, and his words made the masses present sigh for a while.
Knowing this, Jiang Yiping still insisted on defending Ningci Gangcun and had become a sinner of the nation. But in fact, the people also knew that Jiang Yiping was just a pretext, and the Kuomintang government had already decided the final outcome of the trial, that is, Okamura Ningji's innocence, which made many Chinese at that time very angry.
After the Kuomintang defeated Taiwan, Jiang Yiping knew that he had no way to stay on the mainland, so he followed the Kuomintang to Taiwan. Because of this defense, Jiang Yiping became friends with Okamura Ningji, which made him spit on by more people. In Jiang Yiping's later years, he can be said to be a widow, the friends around him have long since cut off contact with him, his wife has long since died, Jiang Yiping, who survived in Taiwan for the last period of time, his family was broken and died, there was no one around to take care of him, and in the end he was afraid that he died with sadness and anger.
epilogue
We will never forget the crimes committed in China by the Japanese aggressors, and no matter how many years have passed, these crimes can never be erased. As a Chinese, Jiang Yiping still chose to defend him when he knew about the crimes committed by Okamura Ningji, and he was really a bloodless person, and his later life was also considered to be his deserved crime, which was a great pleasure.
