Foreign men use pseudonyms to register love websites to deceive hundreds of women

According to the Metropolis daily on December 6, a man living in the UK has cheated on hundreds of women on a dating website and has now been found and will face jail time.

The man, a 40-year-old Nigerian living illegally in the UK, whose real name is Osagie Aigbonohan, used the pseudonym "Tony Eden" to establish relationships with women on dating websites and social media and defrauded them of money, having been in contact with more than 670 people in total, receiving money from at least 9 victims, including one woman who defrauded her of £10,000 (84,500 yuan) claiming to be buying machines for overseas businesses. Another victim is terminally ill and has passed away. He was also found to be holding a fake driver's license when he was arrested in July. A search of his home revealed that he had defrauded the victim of some of the money he had spent on shoes. Currently, the man is in custody pending trial and will be sentenced on the 14th of next month. Dominic Mugan of the UK's National Crime Agency says love fraud is a particularly cruel crime that can cause emotional and financial harm to victims, who often feel they are to blame. In this case the man completely ignored the victim and committed further fraud by transferring funds between multiple accounts, and he may have deceived more people than is currently disclosed.
