Liu Zongyuan has an original poem of the Seven Ancient "Fishermen" as follows:

In the "Cold Fasting Night Talk", It is said that Su Shi believes that after cutting the last two sentences, it is better to use them as a poem:

Liu ZiHou's poem said: "Fisherman night in the west rock, Xiao Ji Qing Xiangran Chu Bamboo ..." Dongpo commented on the poetry cloud: "Take the strange fun as the sect, and the abnormal way as the fun." Familiar, this poem has a strange interest. The last two sentences, although not necessarily.

Su Shi believes that the poem can only leave the first four sentences, and after deleting the last two sentences, it is a seven-word ancient sentence:

However, the Ming Dynasty believed that this poem had the characteristics of a late Tang dynasty poet. It is generally believed that late Tang poetry is inferior to Middle Tang poetry, and Middle Tang poetry is not as good as Sheng Tang poetry. Why? Old Street thinks that the problem is in the last two sentences: the smoke is sold at sunrise and no one is seen, and the sound of the landscape is green.

If you add the last two sentences, the end is: look back at the middle stream under the sky, and there are no heartless clouds on the rock.

What is the difference between the two endings? It lies in one close and one release, one far and one near. One or the other. Therefore, Li Dongyang believes that people who conform to Su Shi are dwarfs watching dramas and people following the clouds.

The five ancients and the five absolutes can also be put together. Gao Shi's poem "Weeping Liang Shaofu" only takes the first four sentences to become a must, and the following are all laid out.

Five ancient poems and five words can be put in or out, that is, long or short. The first four sentences of Gao Shi's "Crying Liang Shaofu" are a good sentence, and the next 100 words are all unfolded narratives.

Huang Baishan's evaluation is quoted in the "Poetry of the Wine Garden", arguing that the first four sentences of these two poems can be enough, and the last four sentences are a bit redundant:

Yu Yu wanted to delete qi ji's "Swordsman" poem and Zhao Weiming's "Ancient Parting" two last four sentences as a final sentence, nai jia.
