Bofeng Culture: Hello, Teacher Liu. It is reported that your children's science fiction work "Super Boy" series won the "Nebula Award", the highest award in the children's science fiction industry, last month.

Liu Qi: Very unexpected, but also very happy. To be honest, I didn't expect to receive such an award. "Super Boy" is the first set of long-form series published after my debut, and many famous masterpieces are in front, so naturally I dare not expect to win awards. However, this set of books can be recognized by teacher Dong Renwei and the teachers of the "Children's Science Fiction Nebula Award" Organizing Committee, and I am still very happy in my heart. This also made me firmer in my creative direction:

Use your original science fiction intention to create more valuable science fiction works for teenagers.

Bo Feng Culture: Since you talked about the original intention of science fiction, can you talk about when you were interested in science fiction?

Liu Qi: The earliest should be traced back to the primary school stage. At that time, in addition to watching the Science Fiction Enlightenment Book Verne series, there was a movie at that time, "Galactic Team", which inspired my initial love of science fiction and the universe. Later, I learned that this movie was based on the novel "Starship Paratrooper" by the famous American science fiction writer Heinlein. Since then, I have fallen in love with science fiction and have been out of control.

BoFeng Culture: It seems that most science fiction fans like science fiction from childhood.

Liu Qi: That's right. I remember the science fiction master Asimov said: Children should read science fiction works as early as possible, and should not be more than 11 years old at the latest. Science fiction can cultivate children's love of science and the first rational cognition of the world. That's why I've always insisted on the creation of science fiction for young people: we have cultivated children's love for science fiction and science from the primary school stage, which will benefit the future development of the whole country.

Bofeng Culture: Can you talk about your views on children's science fiction creation? Or, what kind of work do you think is good children's science fiction?

Liu Qi: The classification of juvenile science fiction or children's science fiction is diverse. There are representative writers of literary genres, such as Teacher Ma Chuansi; there is also Teacher Lu Yang, who combines popular science and stories very well; of course, there is also a super hero teacher who attaches equal importance to storytelling and suspense. The works of these predecessors have been recognized and successfully recognized and successful by the market, and they are also the objects of my study.

For my part, I will package the spirit of science, the spirit of adventure, and the humanistic care into a story that is good enough. First of all, let the children like to watch this story, and then let them accept the influence of popular science and science fiction in a subtle way. Of course, I'm also trying to expand my creative boundaries, and recently I've been trying to create some different genres and styles.

Bofeng Culture: Can that reveal your current creative plans? Many of my friends' children are reading your "Super Boy" series, and as a front-line reader, the children are concerned about a question: Will there be a sequel to Liu Qi's brother's "Super Boy"?

Liu Qi: Cough... It seems that the pressure of drafting is everywhere! In fact, "Super Boy" has completed 10 copies so far, and the second series of new stories is also being published in full swing. As for when it will be published, it depends on the arrangement of the publishing house. However, I can reveal that the story of the second series is definitely more exciting than the first series, please be patient with young readers!

In addition, I am also conceiving and creating a new series of youth science fiction stories, which will not be specific here. I hope that the new work will be released as soon as possible, and it will live up to the young readers who love science fiction and like to read.

Bo Feng Culture: As a publishing practitioner, there is a question that I am more concerned about, that is, why did you choose the theme of "superpowers" to cut into your set of works?

Liu Qi: Just like adults love to watch Marvel movies, in fact, every child has a superhero dream in their hearts. When we were young, we longed for heaven and earth, and we longed to be omnipotent... When I grew up, I realized that those fantasies would never become reality. But fortunately, we still have stories, and we still have novels. I hope that in my story, the children's childhood will be full of fantasy and imagination. People have to dream, so why not make their childhood dreams bigger?

BoFeng culture: Dreams are bigger, this sentence is very inspiring. This may be the meaning of the reality that literary works bring to us.

Liu Qi: That's right. As I first thought when I first created Super Boy, I hope that this set of books will bring not only popular science and science fiction to young readers, but also a fantastic dream childhood.

Bofeng Culture: In addition, in addition to winning the "Children's Science Fiction Nebula Award" award, the "Super Boy" series was also selected as the "2020 Children's Science Fiction Top Ten Novels" in the first half of the year, and was reported by many mainstream media such as Xinhua Net, People's Daily Overseas Edition, Beijing News Broadcasting, and even received praise from best-selling children's book author Yang Peng, senior senior Teacher Dong Renwei and others. What do you think about it as your first feature-length series that gets so much attention?

Liu Qi: Sincerely afraid. This is an affirmation of me and a spur to me. Compared with the media coverage, what makes me feel more accomplished is the direct feedback from young readers. More than once, I have heard parents say from various channels that their children especially like this set of novels full of fantastic ideas, so I hurry up and write a sequel. Here, I sincerely thank all the young readers and parents, thank you for the media friends and senior teachers who pay attention to this set of books, you are all the driving force and traction on my creative road. I will continue to work hard to create and bring you more valuable and good works!

Bo Feng Culture: This interview ends here, thank you teacher Liu Qi for accepting this interview with us in a busy time. Finally, a message to young readers who follow your work.

Liu Qi: Young readers, read science fiction, love science, and be the master of the future world!
