Recently, the Open Science and Open Source Innovation and Development Forum was held during the Third World Forum on Science and Technology and Development. Wang Jianmin, Dean of the School of Software of Tsinghua University and Executive Director of the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Software, was invited to give a special report on "Data Sharing: Apache IoTDB Open Source Project for Industrial Internet of Things Database Management System" at the forum.
Wang Jianmin said that the real industry independence of software comes from the operating system, and the establishment of the operating system as a discipline comes from open and open source. Therefore, open source is a very important means of software innovation. He took the practical achievements of the School of Software of Tsinghua University as an example to introduce the open source practice around the industrial Internet of Things timing database management system.
"A new growth point from the Internet to the industrial Internet, the biggest difference comes from the data of machinery and equipment, that is, machinery and equipment began to speak today, it can record data, communicate with each other." As the time series data generated by the Industrial Internet of Things, these data hide rich industrial semantics, which not only need to be set operations, but also need new features such as compression operations and pattern matching operations for time windows, so they belong to the new database category. To meet the new demand challenges of the industrial Internet, the School of Software of Tsinghua University began to actively use the open source community, opened up the channels of university scientific and technological achievements from papers to systems to products, and introduced more talents from colleges and universities into this model, which not only accelerated talent training, but also promoted industrial applications, which is the performance of open source sharing and win-win integration.
Wang Jianmin proposed that universities do open source to cultivate international talents, especially in the software field, open source innovation is a basic norm, if our graduates do not understand the logic of open source, it is difficult to lead on the stage of world software engineering. Therefore, it is necessary to do a good job in open source education and cultivate college students with open source thinking; to disseminate scientific research results and provide support for open source development; and to vigorously create an atmosphere in which the whole society attaches importance to open source and participates in open source, in order to help China's software industry go global.
During the forum, the "Science and Technology Innovation China" Open Source Innovation Consortium held an open source education working committee, and President Wang Jianmin was appointed as the vice chairman of the open source education working committee of the "Science and Technology Innovation China" open source innovation consortium. The Open Source Education Working Committee is composed of representatives from the fields of science and technology communication, information technology, economic management, media publishing, and software engineering. It will be committed to breaking the traditional closed loop of education, building a three-dimensional learning space, cross-border learning curriculum, and a learning community beyond time and space, focusing on new learning environments and methods, and creating a good ecology for the cultivation of future scientific and technological innovation talents.
