However, it is these hands, with decades of comparative dance, that constantly break through the "boundary" between the world of sound and the world of silence, and shout out a wordless love hidden in his heart.
1 Beginners
Two months of "raiding" to learn sign language
As usual, the interview begins with the "original". In the face of the reporter's mobile phone that turned on the recording function, Wang Jianmin was very frank. He said that he walked out of school in 1972, and in that era of package distribution, when the choice of going to primary school or going to Qingdao City Center Deaf School was in front of him, he did not hesitate to choose the latter. At that time, he was young and "had a simple idea, but he found the establishment of the deaf school more attractive than that of ordinary primary schools."
When he really entered the school, Wang Jianmin knew what his choice meant. Inside and outside the school, separated by a wall, it is like separating two completely different worlds. Outside the wall is bustling, and inside the wall is mostly silent. When he first joined the company, he faced a challenge - he originally taught math classes and served as an assistant to a third-grade class teacher, but because the teacher had to take some time off, Wang Jianmin temporarily took on the responsibilities of the class teacher. Actually standing on the podium, Wang Jianmin read in a pair of pure eyes the desire for knowledge, the desire to communicate with people. But at that time, he had not even mastered sign language, and after a class, he did not know what he had compared and how much the children understood. Having to learn sign language as soon as possible and communicate smoothly with the children is the goal he set for himself after class.
Since then, every day at noon, Wang Jianmin has to take a lunch box into the classroom of the seventh and eighth grades and humbly ask the eldest children for sign language. I often think of eating, the rice is already cold. When he returned home at night, Wang Jianmin also had to shut himself in his room to "add lessons" and keep "talking to himself" for several hours with one pair of hands. After two months of "surprise", Wang Jianmin found in the classroom that a pair of eyes that had been ignorant under the podium had clearly lit up after listening to the lecture, and a sense of accomplishment began to surge in his heart, and he was glad for the original choice.

Start a public interest sign language class
From math teacher, to history teacher, from 1973 to 2015, 42 years are fleeting. Wang Jianmin left his best youth in the Qingdao Central Deaf School, and also won a series of honors such as the 2010 "Moving Qingdao" Top Ten Figures, and won the gratitude and respect of a group of students with meticulous care.
Take care of your grandchildren, walk around the park, go to the university of the elderly to cultivate new hobbies... This is the retirement life that most people aspire to. But Wang Jianmin did not have such a time. The wife and daughter originally thought that this busy man would finally be able to rest at home after retirement, but the result was that he could not see his shadow at both ends for three days.
It turned out that as early as 2007, When Wang Jianmin browsed the Internet forum, he saw that some netizens asked where they could learn sign language, and after being inspired, he founded a sign language corner with the support of the Xianyou Road community to teach volunteers to learn sign language for free. After retiring, Wang Jianmin decided to convert the sign language corner into a sign language studio. "The original sign language corner was mainly for volunteer groups, and the studio had to take care of helping the hearing impaired group." After the studio was officially listed, Wang Jianmin moved the mobile language class to the DingTalk group, and every week the class started without moving, a class of 40 minutes, a mobile phone, a computer is all the "belongings" of his class, college students, volunteers and other groups are his students, in front of the screen to follow him to compare. When the class was at its most popular, there were more than a thousand people online at the same time. Last Saturday, Wang Jianmin's public welfare sign language class had already reached section 723.
In addition, Wang Jianmin also relies on the liaison function of the studio to often organize hearing impaired groups to participate in various social activities: go to the tea room to taste tea and appreciate the tea ceremony culture; perform African drums in community activities, so that ordinary citizens can feel the positive optimism of the hearing impaired group... 3 "Own People"
When he asked for help, he was "on call"
Open Wang Jianmin's WeChat, there are more than 2,000 friends, many of whom are hearing impaired. It is understood that because of physical reasons, some hearing-impaired people are often more vigilant, and even try to communicate with only the same kind of people as much as possible. It is not an easy task to really open the door of their hearts. But in the hearing impaired circle of the island city, speaking of Wang Jianmin is like talking about "their own people", And Wang Jianmin's sign language studio is their common "home".
And Wang Jianmin is really worthy of this heavy trust. Hearing impaired groups encountered difficulties and asked him for help, as long as the body allowed, Wang Jianmin was basically "on call". At six or seven o'clock in the morning and eleven or twelve o'clock in the middle of the night, Wang Jianmin's mobile phone may receive all kinds of help messages. In order to explain the problem clearly, Wang Jianmin will accept the other party's video call invitation sooner or later and communicate through sign language.
Wang Jianmin, who has dealt with the hearing impaired group for more than 40 years, knows that medical treatment and litigation are the two major difficulties in their lives, and accompanying medical treatment and inquiry are also things that Wang Jianmin often does. "I always remember the first time I went to the hospital with my hearing-impaired friend." Wang Jianmin said that at that time, a woman in her 40s had completed a gynecological examination at Qingdao Women's and Children's Hospital, but she was unable to communicate with the doctor and had to ask him for help. After communicating with the hospital, Wang Jianmin appeared in the gynecological clinic that usually "stops men". Although slightly embarrassed, he successfully completed his first translation work between doctors and patients. In order to facilitate the provision of services to the hearing impaired, he also contacted Qingdao Municipal Hospital and Qingdao Women and Children's Hospital to establish a sign language service base for the hearing impaired. During the peak period of "accompanying clinics", Wang Jianmin had to run the hospital four or five times a month.
In the public security and legal organs of the island city, Wang Jianmin is also a "familiar face". As long as there are hearing impaired people or staff to ask him for help, Wang Jianmin will rush to the scene as soon as possible.
4. Go again
Hope to see service groups "rushing after the wave"
Since September last year, Wang Jianmin has been busier.
On September 25, 2020, the Qingdao Disabled Persons' Federation held the unveiling ceremony of "Caring for the Home of the Hearing Impaired" in the Xianyou Road community of Kinmen Road Street. Soon after the unveiling ceremony, Wang Jianmin planned a "big move" - some hearing-impaired friends reflected the difficulties encountered in learning to drive, and he immediately tried to contact the driving school of Chengyun Holdings Bus Group. With the support of the driving school, the hearing impaired not only saved a large amount of learning to drive, but also stopped struggling with voice reminders when taking the third subject, and obtained special text reminders. With the strong support of the community, Wang Jianmin continued to "open up the territory" for the hearing impaired group, and extensively carried out medical knowledge lectures, legal advice and services, reasonable diet knowledge lectures and other activities, and made his own contribution to promoting the equal participation of hearing impaired groups in social life and arousing the society's understanding, respect, care and help for hearing impaired groups.
The busy pace of work has made the 66-year-old man feel overwhelmed. A single arrow is easy to break, and many arrows are difficult to break. Over the years, although su nan, Liu Li, Yuan Ying and other deaf school colleagues have joined the studio, as well as volunteers from many volunteer teams in the island city to support, in Wang Jianmin's view, in order to provide better help for the hearing impaired group, these forces are still not enough. When the reporter asked him if he planned to serve the hearing impaired group for a few more years, the old man who had been happy sighed and said that as long as the body allowed it, he would continue to work.
