The most important thing is that the relationship between them can withstand the test of any tribulation, after the Wutaishi case occurred, Wang Gong, a good friend of Su Shi, also suffered a senseless disaster and was sent by the imperial court to the remote Binzhou. However, at such a time, he and Su Shi still maintained close contact, they did not talk about politics, nor did they complain about their situation, and still exchanged views on poetry, painting and calligraphy as usual. This kind of tribulation between Wang Gong and Su Shi has been praised by many people.
In 1079, Su Shi was interrogated by the chancellor, who said that he intended to mock the government and point out his crimes, and Su Shi was interrogated in this situation, and those who were usually close to him were also suspected by the imperial court, and more than twenty people were implicated in this matter. And Wang Gong is also a person involved in the Wutai poetry case. Moreover, he was the most punished and degraded of all the people implicated, which made Su Shi feel very guilty about him. Many of Wang Gong's family members left him, leaving only one singer willing to accompany him to the Binzhou area.
